ADL Report on Y2K Paranoia Available at Police Chiefs Meeting U.S. Newswire 1 Nov 17:27 ADL Report on Y2K Made Available to Meeting of International Association of Chiefs of Police To: National Desk Contact: Myrna Shinbaum, 212-885-7747, or Todd Gutnick, 212-885-7755, both of the Anti-Defamation League

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has made available to participants of the International Association of Chiefs of Police meeting in Charlotte, N.C., its report on the potential for violent reactions in response to the year 2000. Participants have also received a report on the millennium threat, dubbed "Project Megiddo," from the FBI.

The ADL report, "Y2K Paranoia: Extremists Confront the Millennium," examines the varied reactions and expectations of elements on the fringes of society and warns of the potential for violence. The report focuses on anti-government militia and "Patriot" groups with theories of a government conspiracy, certain religious fundamentalists and cults predicting an apocalypse with Jews playing a conspiratorial or Satanic role, and far-right extremists seeking to blame the so-called Y2K bug on Jews and the federal government. Many of the groups are disseminating hate-filled propaganda on the Internet.

"Millennial cults, extremist groups and racial ideologues this year are bringing their assorted baggage to the Y2K happening," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL national director. "The heightened expectations of the year 2000, mixed together with the widely reported possibility of computer meltdown, have generated a barrage of predictions and hysterical propaganda from those on the farthest fringes of society. While not all of these groups call for explicit action, many of their followers are hoping, expecting or preparing for the worst. We can only hope that these people will not act rashly or violently on their fears and expectations."

Predicting The Apocalypse

-- The Prophecy Club -- Members are selling books that warn of a government plan to establish an evil dictatorship and imprison "true believers" in concentration camps.

-- Aum Shinrikyo -- The Japanese cult responsible for the 1995 Tokyo subway attack is predicting Armageddon. Authorities fear the violence-prone group could strike again.

-- Gershon Salomon -- As leader of the Movement for the Establishment of the Temple, Salomon reportedly has asserted that he and his followers must "liberate" the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, destroy the Dome of the Rock Mosque and build the Third Temple foretold by the prophets.

-- Concerned Christians -- Authorities believe that the group may resort to violence in the streets of Jerusalem to hasten the Second Coming of Christ. Concerned Christians achieved notoriety last January when its followers were arrested and deported from Israel.

-- Yisrayl "Bill" Hawkins -- Hawkins, the leader of the House of Yahweh, and his followers are awaiting the return of Jesus in a compound in Abilene, Texas. The group reportedly is stockpiling arms.

-- Robert Millar -- The leader of a Christian Identity settlement in Muldrow, Okla., Millar's white supremacist teachings include predictions of a series of disasters after 2000 that will remove the wicked from the earth. The settlement, dubbed Elohim City, reportedly is heavily armed.

Extreme Right Hatemongers

-- National Socialist White Revolutionary Party -- Believes that an impending Russian nuclear, chemical and biological assault on the United States will lead to the forming of a globalist government.

-- James Wickstrom -- An Identity minister in Michigan with links to Posse Comitatus, a loosely organized group of Identity survivalists, Wickstrom predicts Y2K will bring widespread chaos perpetrated by the "Jew and antichrist world system." He claims there's a Jewish conspiracy to downplay Y2K and insists the NATO strikes against Serbia were intended to divert attention from an impending world disaster.

-- Christian Defense League -- The virulently anti-Semitic Christian Defense League in Arabi, La. believes Y2K is actually a Jewish plot to take over the world.

-- Church of Israel -- Dan Gayman, leader of the Missouri-based Church of Israel, a white supremacist group, predicts civil chaos, especially among "non-whites" whom he singles out from among welfare recipients as the most likely to resort to "unbridled killing" if the Y2K bug results in a temporary suspension of government entitlement programs. He advises followers to keep a "shotgun handy."

-- National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP) -- Predicts a doomsday Y2K scenario that includes a stock market crash, a run on the banks and general mayhem.

Militia and "Patriot" Groups

-- John Trochman and the Militia of Montana -- On his Web site, Trochman repeatedly refers to "secret" military reports that suggest an imminent U.S. government takeover.

-- NORFED -- Indiana organization claims the computer systems at the Federal Reserve and other world financial institutions will malfunction, causing the international monetary system to collapse.

-- Col. James "Bo" Gritz -- A former Green Beret and presidential candidate for the extremist Populist Party, Gritz has trained hundreds of anti-government zealots to fight a so-called "New World Order."

--- EDITORS NOTE: ADL experts are available for interviews on the findings of Y2K Paranoia or for more information on extremist groups. The report may be viewed on the Internet at http://www.adl.org.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

What, they left out the Drunken Soccer Mom's Y2K quilting club? We most definitely deserve watching......

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), November 02, 1999.

Nope, not a member of any of the above groups, don't play one on T.V., and don't know any members, either. I did, however, join a group of peaceful protesters blocking the route of a local white supremacist group that intended to march through the middle of downtown this summer. Don't know if the white supremacists were apocryphals (apocalyptics?), but I did meet a few GI's among my fellow protesters.

-- (RUOK@yesiam.com), November 02, 1999.

Just find it curious that they're naming specific groups now. Wonder how many more less "obvious" ones are being watched.

I'm in Charlotte and Uptown is swarming with police this week. I'm hoping we'll get some good local coverage of the FBI report. It's been mentioned about 5 times in the paper so far...

No, it isn't any of the Above people who are wanting a battle at Megiddo - Armageddon. It's none other than the good old boys and girls of the "new" order who are itching for a showdown. They and their minions are the ONLY hate group around. And since they have the Tanks - paid for by you and me - they think they're going to Win this Battle. But according to the Bible they've got one More "Hate Group" to take on.

But THIS one is the MOTHER of "Hate Groups" - Jesus Christ and the Armies of Heaven will be the LAST "Hate Group" that satan and his new order EVER take on.

And it's so damn close I can feel the wind of the Spirit blowing on my face, and Jesus whispering to me,"We Win: They LOSE. And You Belong to ME." According to the Bible, the Armies of Heaven are HAVING to be Restrained Right this Moment to keep from coming here and ending this sorry chapter in history before God Wants it closed. For some reason God has a certain time picked out. I only know that it's CLOSE.

db, what does God's army look like. Might they consist of Earthquakes, Floods, Killer Bees, Fire Ants, drug resistent TB, new types of Flu, etc. IS the battle not occurring now ????

The snoops just aren't vigilant enough. They left out the

Why would you stockpile weapons while awaiting the return of Jesus???

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), November 02, 1999.

Why, Deano, in case the BATF shows up to party, of course.

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), November 02, 1999.

Who's "stockpiling" weapons, Deano, other than the goverment? I happen to agree with some others on this site who have pointed out that guns are no match against nuclear weapons. But God IS a match against the Government's Nuclear HOARDING, and THEN some. And when they meet HIM, they will have Met their match. And no, "earthquakes" are not the Armies of Heaven.

-- AreThey (ReallyHolding@Back.com), November 02, 1999.

That Last answer was to you, Are They(really holding back.)

In fact I'm getting chills, because I just remembered What God said to Elijah: In fact I'm going to quote it:

"Go out and stand before me on the mountain," The Lord told him.

And as Elijah stood there the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain; it was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was Not in the wind.

After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

And after the earthquake there was a fire, But the Lord was not in the fire.

And after the fire, there was the sound of a gentle whisper."

-- doorbaby (templeofmyGod@heaven.com), November 02, 1999.

"The group is reportedly stockpiling guns."

Hmmmmm. I wonder if they have a federal arms dealer license (like the Davidians?) Not that it matters (as in the case of the Davidians).

It bothers me when people are singled out for whatever brand of faith they have. In the wake of all that has happened, I believe the potential for abuse is tremendous.

Well I certainly sleep better at night since our esteemed government "got rid" of those 5-year old Branch Davidian terrorists. There's nothing more frightening than a 5-year old Branch Davidian terrorist. Unless it's Janet Reno, saying, "I'm here to help you."

I don't think it mattered at all when they shot and killed the federal agents.

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), November 02, 1999.

They "reportedly" stockpile weapons?????

"Reportedly"??????

Reported by WHOM???????

The same people that are "reporting" on Y2K being NOTHING ??????

even though the Government has THEN wasted billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars for NOTHING?????

It's been "reported" by propagandists in their "Megiddo Report" because THEY'RE the ones itching for a showdown. And YOU may CHOOSE to believe their LIES, but I DON'T. I don't believe their self-reporting.

Believe their "reporting" all you want, deano. But don't try to pawn off their "reporting" as FACT. If you knew the Bible, you would know that Christians do not stockpile weapons. Because the weapons of OUR 'warfare' are not carnal.

But of course you don't KNOW the Bible. You just know what the Old new order has "reported" about Christians.

-- doorbaby (templeofmyGod@heaven.com), November 02, 1999.

Deano,

I am sure I will seal my fate by saying this in a public forum. However, if I were in the same position as the Davidians were, I would probably reacted the same way. That said, I won't beat a dead horse.

As for stock-piling weapons, I don't think that Christians are any different than anyone else in that respect. Some people feel more comfortable with plenty of guns and ammo. Is it the word "stock- piling" that bothers you? How many weapons does it take before it is defined as stock-piling? I am just speaking for myself here but I think it is prudent in these uncertain times to be prepared for any situation that may arise. My DH is a police officer and we have numerous rifles and pistols in the house. And get this, he is a Christian and a staunch advocate of the 2nd amendment (and not just for law enforcement personnel). I guess what I am saying is that the "label" is just that. Different strokes for different folks. The group in Abilene is (IMHO) not much of a threat to anyone. I have read several articles in the Abilene paper about them. Their leader is definitely eccentric but I don't forsee them running out to blow up the Civic Center on New Years Eve. It troubles me that people are being lumped together as the "lunatic fringe".

-- Sharon (sking@drought-ridden.com), November 02, 1999.

doorbaby

Whoa!! Down boy.........easy..........

That was my point sonny. Why would 'real' Christians stockpile guns?? It made no sense to me that's why I asked the question.

NWO?? Isn't that where Sting, the UnderTaker and Stone Cold work???

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), November 02, 1999.

The group that really scares me the most is the NAAWP. Why they're predicting things like a Stock Market crash, a run on the banks, and Lord forbid (GENERAL MAYHEM). Maybe he's their leader! I think the Government should really keep an eye on these guy's, they sound like real trouble to me.

-- TJ (tyle@mindspring.com), November 02, 1999.

I know for a FACT that the Robert Millar listed above is on record in the wake of the OKC bombing as being on the .gov payroll for fifteen years. His job was to start up a neo-nazi "hate" group in order to give the government a reason to pass draconian legislation. Do ANY of you know anything about how the Hegelian dialectic works? I smell a rat.

Carol Howe testified against the .gov and this all came out in court. It's funny how the media can report things that the ADL claims, but can't report the facts as they pertain to that which they don't want you to know

This can be verified by The New American magazine @ www.jbs.org.

-- Patrick (pmchenry@gradall.com), November 02, 1999.

Sir Deano,

The Christians have to get weapons to protect thenselves and their loved ones against the militant haters out there who dDON'T turn the other cheek - but rather invade, steal, rape and murder.

Or would you rather they surrender meekly to real terrorists? Thought that was a complaint in the mid-40's: that they didn't try to resist.

---

This is strictly a FBI press release to justify their actions in late December of confiscating weapons, declaring martial law, and arresting people .... or do you claim that Reno's FBI is going to obey the Constitution for a change?

Did you notice that - despite ALL this hype that Blitzer has put out since September 98, all the new hundreds of agents he was able to hire to look for supposed y2k-terrorists, that he has yet to actually FIND and arrest ANYBODY who is actually accused of planning ANY KIND of crime?

Hey Sharon,

If you had to go to Abilene to go to the mall and it was 90 miles away you had to be coming from the south or the west. Yes, Are They Really Holding Back, the last time the Big Guy really really got upset with us, he let loose with a flood, but the part of the story that everyone seems to forget is the RAINBOW. Remember? Noah saw a rainbow and God told him that is His promise that He will never do that again. I still believe that promise. The irony of Y2K is, if it is bad, we will have done it TO OURSELVES. I don't like it when people go blaming God for our screw-ups. (I'm not saying YOU are, just in general.)

-- preparing (preparing@home.com), November 02, 1999.

Since when was Populism a crime? don't know about most of the racist groups but some imply the ADL has a agenda and is also a racist group(the yin/yang of polarity(Zionists beget Nazi's and nazi's beget Zionists. Now Col. Bo Grites is not a wacko and he is the most decorated Green Beret officer. I'f I remember correctly he was the man who negoiated an end of the Ruby Ridge standoff. Shame on the ADL for maligning this Good dedicated man and former Presidential candidate .I suspect the Reform party as outlined by Pat Buchannan could be considered a populist party and Populism has a long and fruitful history in the United States.Knew Col Grites in Vietnam and He IS NOT A RACIST! Special Forces is color blind! but Grites is defininitely not an Internationalist. And to some politicans this is is a deadly sin. From my readings on Grites I would consider him an American firster. Populism=William Jennings Bryant ,who railed against the corporate crimes of his time. and against the emerging FED banking system.

-- A reformer and meltingpotter! (a lot of S**tin the @game.com), November 02, 1999.

If you really want to judge for yourself, get a shortwave radio and every morning at 9:00 or 10:00 A.M. EST, dial in to 12.160 mh and listen to Colonel Bo Gritz for yourself. Some of the most SHOCKING talk radio to be found! Talk about HATE! This guy Hates the destruction of the country he fought and nearly died for; he HATES the communo/socialist pukes that have infiltrated our government at the HIGHEST levels. (Billy Boy a Marxist? Oh my!), he hates the fact that the in-your-face Sodomites are dancing on the town common; and yes... he HATES the federal reserve because he knows how they work to enslave his countrymen.

But, you don't have to go to all that trouble to know the truth of the matter. You could just let the Dan Blathers, Tom Brokenjaws and the Connie Dungs of the world do your "heavy lifting" for you like our dear friend, Mr. Decker.

-- Patrick (pmchenry@gradall.com), November 03, 1999.

Yes, I've heard Gritz is a standup guy (though he's probably religious :-) -- and not a racist as far as I know.

Also I agree ADL=NWO. ADL just tars anyone and everyone not agreeing with their NWO views. If you want a good Jewish group, look up "Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership". (To look it up, just enter the name at http://www.ask.com) A rare viewpoint among that predominately "liberal" (statist/NWO) people.

-- A (A@AisA.com), November 03, 1999.

So maybe there are 10,000 strange people in the country, expecting Jesus or someone. Isn't being different what the Constitution is about. When the government attacks peaceful people again, I HOPE THAT MILLIONS WILL JOIN AGAINST THESE NAZI BASTARDS IN WASHINGTON.

-- goldbug (goldbug@mint.com), November 03, 1999.

Dog,

Yes, close! I live fairly close to Eastland. It is 90 miles to Ft. Worth to Ridgmar Mall and only 60 miles to Abilene. I have been to all of those towns you mentioned and who knows? I might even know some of your kinfolk! I would agree with you that New Mexico is beautiful. I have only been a couple of times, once to Ruidosa and then passing throught the southern part on my way to California. There have been many times (during July and August mostly) that I wished that I lived in the mountains of New Mexico!

Sorry I took so long to get back with you. This time change has messed me up. Once I get home in the evenings, get everyone and everything fed and ready for bed...SHEESH! I am ready for bed too! Take care and don't play too close to the road.

Sharon,

I have family that lives in a little town close to Eastland, called Santo, Tx. Small world, small 'net...

Time changes have always "dented my equalibrium", and I don't know why (it ain't natural). It takes me at least a week to shake the groggy feeling.

I know what you mean about taking care of the "brood". Them pups are a pain in the tail sometimes... : )

And by the way, this here "dog" is a house dog. The only time I get in the street is when there is a car or truck under me...

There is nothing new in the ADL's paranoia.I would suggest that this is one of the ways, to justify those federal dollars ,they are receiving.and gain more media coverage,to promote their own agenda.Besides,if things do really get bad, they can relocate to the peace, and quiet of the motherland.

Spoke with Myna Shinbaum of the ADL at the phone number above.

She has no other information to offer, and claims that their report is independent of the FBI's Project Megiddo report.

She had no evidence of any terrorist plans, no evidence nor knowledge of anybody being arrested for planning y2k-induced terror actions, nor any independent data - other than what was apparently already copied or previously made available from the FBI's domestic terrorism head (Blitzer's) comments.

Her attack's on other religious - concealed under this mantle of alerting the public to "right-wing hate groups" - most of whom she blantanly mis-characterizes and maligns - is simply itself propaganda and "hate speech" itself. In this case, hatred against conservative Christains.

Yeah Robert,

She CLAIMS that THEIR report "IS independent of the FBI's Project Megiddo". But then that depends on what the meaning of "is" is.

I think they're sleeping in the same bed, and mr moto pointed out they are being subsidized by the taxpayers, including the members of these "hate groups" of which they're so petrified .

But the Old "new" order is coordinating the entire thing.

And it isn't just ADL . It's "hollywood". It's the Mainstream media.

It's just a one-celled protozoan reproducing itself. And reproducing itself. Ad nauseum.
