Only .01 percent of the population Get It.

I say that only .01 percent get it when it comes to y2k. I am on the disaster preparedness comittee for a small church that also provides a shelter for the homeless in orange county ca. One of the members has informed us that the city is having massive amount of stop signs made up and getting more water purification and tanker trucks, and getting plans in place to deal with bus overcrouding in case of fuel rashioning. It seems to me that they are preparing for serious y2k consequences from some of the other stuff of a Confidential nature he informed me about that is quite serious stuff. Only .01 percent of the population is awake. Y2k is trouble coming down the tracks. They wouldnt prepare if they were not convienced that infrastructure failure and state sponsored terrorism is a high threat. The cities are being briefed by the military and the fbi as to what to expect. This is no joke it will be the real deal. No G.I's imagination, they are spending big money on serious equipment. I suspect they expect outages that may last weeks if not longer. Information is being kept tightly under wraps. An y2k federal response plan is now being circulated at the local levels, fire depts, police. utilities etc. All quite for now on the y2k weatern front.

I agree with you Mike. My brother and niece and his ex-wife live in Orange County too - I've been there many times (Newport Beach area) - it is going to be way bad if water goes up the swannee... not to mention crime - Santa Ana just down the road... :(

I've bored my brother to tears about preps and even relocating temporarily but he just won't listen. I've given up with him sad to say.

I can't find one other person in my circle that's preparing; family, neighbors or co-workers. I preach it's better to be safe than sorry even though I'm a fence sitter.

Well if only .01 percent of the people GI then I guess that kills the idea that "the herd" will be cleaning out the shelves this December.

My husb. and I went to the local ACME (large chain food store here on the middle eastern coast) at 7:30 yesterday morning. I was expecting to have to beat people off the pallets filled with ACME brand green beans and corn. If you bought a case of 24 you paid 25cents/can. I'm pretty sure we have enough to cover our family but I'm thinking there will be many more who'll need food.

Anyways...there wasn't but a couple people in the store and NOONE had cases of canned goods. I thought perhaps folks were sleeping in and they'd come later. I offered to buy a couple cases for my friend who was taking time from her day to ride me to the lumber store in her pick-up. We went in to the ACME and it was bustling. I looked at the carts of about 25 people and not ONE case of cans in sight. When I went to the pallet where I had picked up my canned goods earlier that day, it looked hardly touched...sigh.

I'm glad I read an article by another Christian on the internet that was about being a Joseph in our neighborhood.

0.01% (equals decimal 0.0001)? Or decimal 0.01 (equals 1%)?

Worldwide
Case 1 (0.0001)
6,000,000,000 * 0.0001 = 600,000 left

Case 2 (0.01)
6,000,000,000 * 0.01 = 60,000,000 left

U.S.
Case 1 (0.0001)
260,000,000 * 0.0001 = 26,000 left

Case 2 (0.01)
260,000,000 * 0.01 = 2,600,000 left

Case 2 seems about right.

Ain't it great to be one of the .01%?
