TO ALL OF THE ANTIS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Have you given up yet? Have you conceded the inevitable passage of this initiative?

Or are you persisting in your delusion that the People are going to reject their first meaningful tax relief in 20 years?

Are you still reading the rigged polls of the "No" campaign?

Have you conceded that the masses have not bought your campaign?

Now, are you going to step aside and allow the People to keep their money? Or are you going to attempt what all socialists do - thwart the will of the People through abuse of the judicial system?

Face reality - the election is over. You've lost. Your union-thug Mafia leaders have tossed away $10 million of YOUR money on a lost cause.

It's been entertaining, though, listening to the caterwauling of Patrick, Chez, dbvz, "Concerned WA Parent" (or whatever he/she/it is calling him/her/itself this week) and the other tax leeches. But, a year from now, you and us will be paying $30 for tags. And you'll deny that your campaign ever said any of the things it did. In fact, when your liberal socialist buddies are up for reelection, they'll try to take credit for the $30 license tabs, just like your buddies Clinton and Locke tried with welfare reform.

ON TO VICTORY!

Response to TO ALL OF THE ANTIS AND OTHER TAX WHORES

Joe:

Abuse of the legal system? Why don't you read up on all the issues this initiative will create as problems that need resolution? The legal system is the proper place to bring those questions.

If an authority such as the Attorney General issues an opinion that some part of the initiative is unconstitutional or unclear, what are the state and local governments supposed to do? Should they just not implement that provision, and wait for the pro side to file suit to compel them? Or should they petition the court for a decision directly? They need an answer, and that is not abuse of the judicial system.

Mr. Bill:

Agreed.

They don't understand that this is a POLITICAL decision, not a legal one. And it runs counter to their religious dogma that everything that government does is wonderful and noble.

Yes, dbvzebdzdvbe will never get it. He does not understand the constitutions or those who wrote them. He is on every topic in this forum spewing his socialist crap. And did he ever answer the question about continuing to pay for his tabs at the same rate every year when this passes? Has he answered the question, "If he wants a service, why doesn't HE pay for it, instead of forcing the rest of us into his socialist society?" Has he yet, aknowelegded the part of the WASH. state constitution that cleary allows citizens' initiatives and The Declaration of Independence that REQUIRES citizens to throw off gov't when it becomes destructive to our freedom?

Actually, I responded to all of that. If 695 is passed, I will pay the same license fee everyone else does, as required by the law. That has nothing to do with how stupid this initiative is.

Calling me a socialist tars just about everyone, because your criteria seems to be ANY tax and ANY government constitutes socialism. With that point of view, you sound like an anarchist.

I have no problem with the initiative process, if used to approve reasonable proposals. Just because it is proposed through the initiative process does not make it a good idea. I have stated, several times, that whenever possible the legislative process is more likely to produce a product that is not so full of holes as this flawed initiative is. That is not against the right of the people, but against the problems this specific proposal will cause.

This really has nothing to do with the right of the people to throw off an oppressive government, as described in the Declaration of Independence. It has more to do with the proper exercise of the rights of citizens as defined in the Constitution (state and federal). This is not a revolution. It is an initiative of the people. As I have said several times, the constituional processes are intended to make another revolution unnecessary. If 695 wins, I am not going to take up arms to oppose it. If it loses, I don't expect the supporters will take up arms. If you can't convince a majority this year, you reword the thing and try again next year - within the available constitutional means. The Declaration does not REQUIRE you to start a revolution, as long as the political and judicial processes are working. If a Dictator takes over, that's another matter entirely.

I suggest you tone down the rhetoric a little. You sound like one of those wild-eyed malitia types, that sees a government conspiracy behind everything.
