greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

hello i have some disadvantages for using mame 34 on t2 1:nt users can't play 2:current romsets can't be used with mame34 3:latest beta is more stable than mame 34 4:mame32.034 sucks and if pb ndon't playback on a later version, lets pick another game it would be better for a lot of people. gamefreak has spoken!!!!!!

I totally agree with Game Freak, great points there. I am pretty good at Puzzle Bobble, i have 3rd on marp, but still i want to pick another game,so that we can use latest beta for tourney. The romsets issue is also fatal.

I'm not 100% sure with PuzzleBobble, but for other Old version romsets i have used in coordination with the new set you set it up like this.

mame/roms/game.zip <----- New roms in here

mame/roms/game/oldroms.* <------ Old roms in here

As long as the gracious parsley can have a site with the old roms, you can keep the new roms of a game in the zip file and unzip the old roms to the game directory, and still use mame34 to play the old files and mame36b99 to play the new files in the zip.

To hit everyone's points at once. Mark, nice going, now people just have to realize it is a work in progress, and shouldn't be considered a silver bullet. About the MARP Tourney Rom Page, I hope my best to have the page ready for viewing by Tuesday morning at the absolute latest, as there is still some question as to what is being done with T2. I might suggest using WinMame32 36b6, as it isn't prong to the Dos MAME cheat, and does support virtually all new games out there.

I'd agree with gamefreak on this...unless PBobble is fully supported and works WELL on the new tournament version of MAME v.35 so that everyone can play it.
