MEDIA BLITZ BY NO CAMPAIGN

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Watch out you couch potatoes! You are about to be bombarded with more Anti-695 commercials than beer ones! They are going to try to get into your head and SCARE you into voting NO and use every scary trick in their pot to make you believe it's a bad thing. Don't listen to them, in fact, change the channel. I've mostly seen the commercials on NBC and ABC just prior to big shows (like Friends last night).

If you are still doubting, read my post on the board titled "Before you vote No...".

Today, someone mention that if I-695 passes, flu shots won't be covered by Medicare. Since when does the state pay Medicare specifcally for flu shots? They only said this because it IS flu season, and it's a way to get you to think about your parents and their health. DON'T LISTEN!!! YOU HAVE THE POWER NEXT WEEK TO TELL THEM TO STOP USING TAXPAYER MONEY FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL USE AND FUNDING PROJECTS THAT YOU CAN'T BELIEVE IT COSTING SO MUCH FOR ONE SWINGSET!!!

Vote Yes on I-695!

Too little, too late. Too many people already have their minds made up. Too many absentee ballots already sent in. We now approach the point where huge numbers of lawyers (paid for with our tax dollars) will try to get the successful initiative thrown out. Our job is to keep the pressure on, and to hammer (politically) those who try to win through litigation the argument that they couldn't win at the ballot box.

Craig:

If it passes, litigation will be needed just to determine what the legal effect of the initiative is. I agree it is late to influence most voters, but some wait for the last weekend to mark the boxes, and many still go to the polling booths. Some will be influenced in these last days. We can hope it will be enough to defeat it.

These NO commercials are kind of fun to watch. Better than Saturday Night Live comedy performances. Most people that I have talk with think there funny.

What we are seeing with these 11th-hour TV ads is the dying gasp of the No campaign. They've outspent us 10-to-1 yet we're still up by anywhere from 20 to 50 points in the polls.

ON TO VICTORY!!!

" We can hope it will be enough to defeat it. " I would assume that last "we" is either a "royal' we, or that you have a tapeworm. Or are you STILL trying to turn me to the dark side? Anyway, I already told you, my absentee ballot is long ago in the mail. Even so, d, you are taking the impending passage much better than most pro-MVET posters on the forum. Either more mature or still in denial, I would assume. Have a good week-end.

Craig:

Thanks. You too. Not in denial. It looks like it will pass, but the opposition can still hope the polls are wrong. Hope is free. As for taking it well, I stll expect the effects will not be immediate because of the suits that will be filed, mostly over section 2 which is my primary concern anyway.
