Predict the Dow, win a million dollars

A lot of people in this forum try to predict the dow, so I thought I'd post this. If you guess the value of the dow on the last day of trading for the year, you win a million dollars. Closest guess wins. Of course, if some of you are right, then good luck collecting.

FOR THOSE IN FLORIDA: Don't waste your time going through the sign up process. It is illegal in Florida to do this and they don't tell you until you give them your life history.

6034.22 would be my guess.

I'll guess Dow 3211 and close of business of 12/31/1999.

BTW, I'll take my million as $250K in 1-oz silver rounds, $250K in 1/10-oz gold rounds, $250K in 1-oz gold rounds and $250K in rice and beans. ;)

Dow 9800 before jan 1,2000 and Dow 4000 post Jan 1, 2000 It's all smoke and mirrors. The numbers are artifical. Figures dont lie but liars do figures. They wont tip off the public that a market implosion is already under way they control the media circus that brings forth all the news they want us to hear. The manufacture of power is to control the preception of reality. They are to deep into the fraud to stop now. Just a bunch of wicked old men that want to rule the world with an iron fist. WWII part 2 if we dont respect the lesson history is trying to teach us here. Fight the proganda machine with love and truth. Get your nieghbors prepared. Put out flyers until they get it. We wont get an early warning before the lights go out, be ready from now on. be resilent. be flexiable. Trust God.

I'm gonna win this one easy. The Russians are gonna Nuke NYC before the end of the year, using the "use it or loose it" philosophy....so there will be no Dow Jones at the end of the year. So, sign me up for "0," and I'll bet a buck also...

Dow 10, 932

Dow 10932

-- Lynn Ratcliffe (mcgrew@ntr.net), October 26, 1999.

1) It's no doubt illegal in Hawaii, as well...

2) I'll go for 6403.39 (and falling)...

I bet the Chinese nuke us before the Russians. Put me in for 2 bucks.

y2kmike--I agree with everything you say, although I'd place the DOW at 9300, year's end.I'm in Florida. Darn! I coulda bin a millionheiress.

There's an awful lot of red numbers over in Asia and Europe today...

I say Wednesday is gonna be a very DOWn day.

Hmmm, this is perverse, but today I learn that Wall Streeters "cheered Dow Jones move" (replacing several Dow Jones companies, including Sears, with others such as Microsoft and Home Depot) and that Al Goldman chief market strategist at A.G. Edwards and Sons in St.Louis has raised his year-end Dow forecast from 11,300 to 11,500 as a result of the changes. Well!!

In Florida here, so I never had a prayer of winning, but since every other forecast I have made regarding the market has been wrong, I will be completely ridiculous and guess 11,499. Ha! Boy does THAT feel weird.

To heck with guessing where the market's going to be. It'll be tougher to predict the size of the bean shipment to WildWeasel's house when he wins the prize.....Let's see.... $250,000 of beans (what kind? pinto? kidney? great northern?). That's approximately 625,000 lbs of beans (if you can get pintos at 40 cents a pound). That's 312 tons of beans!!!...By the way, will this be drop-shipped?

-- TM (mercier7@pdnt.com), October 27, 1999.

Wease,

...just a suggestion. With the $250,000 in beans, you've got the beginnings of a profitable methane gas production facility!

-- TM (mercier7@pdnt.com), October 27, 1999.

Actually I'm looking for a LARGE propane burner and a kettle big enough to hold 312 tons of beans and other chili fixin's. If/when things calm down I intend to take part in one big "We got through it" party; either the big one at Paul Milne's place or the one near Ed Yourdon's place.

Of course if I can get enough trucks to haul things I could supply chili at both events, providing the Dow comes through and can stay at 3600 for year's end.

How about an asteroid or comet on or about Nov 6, beating out both the Chinese and the Russians? Thus, DOW = 0.
