Top 5 CDs in your collection : LUSENET : Naked Eye : One Thread

What CDs do you play the most?

Mine are: Jackson Browne - Running on Empty, Enigma - Cross of Changes, Diana Schuur - Nobody Does Me, Ella Fitzerald - Best Of and the Soundtrack from Boys On The Side.

My list of "most played" is probably best represented at 20 titles or so - I listen to music a lot.

I listen to my CDs mostly at work (at home my housemates pretty much dominate the stereo where the music ranges from ultra-avant garde jazz to Aerosmith).

Top 5 CDs at work?

Modest Mouse's "Lonesome Crowded West"

Beastie Boys's "Hello Nasty" ("Fifty cups of coffee and you know I'm on" seems to fit very well with my work personae).

Nick Cave and the Seeds, "The Best of Nick Cave and the Seeds"

Junior Kimbrough's, "Most Things Haven't Worked Out"

For my more mellow days,

Delirium's "Karma"

-- moira (, October 26, 1999.

1. The soundtrack to "Peter's Friends"

2. Carole King, "Tapestry"

3. Soul Coughing, "Ruby Vroom"

4. Neil Finn, "Try Whistling This" 5. October Project, "October Project" It was hard to limit it to just five.

listening to music is a sporadic thing for me. i forget all abot it for weeks on end. then i spluge, and the flat is filled with music for days. then, of course, i have a small fit about not having -enough- music, and get that terrible itch to go and blow a hundred quid or so on some really tasty new CDs. fortunately, i usually forget about it before the damage is done to the bank account. but, that said, there are old favourites, that i listen to again and again (when i'm not stuck on listening to, or making compilations) so, in no particular order:

1. the sound track to 'until the end of the world'
2. mazzy star, 'she hangs brightly'
3. brahms, 'german requiem'
4. tricky, 'maxinquaye', or the crystal method, 'vegas'
5. something by julian cope, or thomas tallis, or underworld, or the triffids, or shonen knife.
(you didn't really expect me to pick just five, surely?)

-- heyoka (, October 26, 1999.

My CDs mostly are with me in the car, and get rotated out quite a bit, but the current ones I keep playing are (and no particular order here):

Sheryl Crow, Globe Sessions Barenaked Ladies, oops, can't even recall name - it's 'live'. (Hazards of keeping them in the CD changer - I never see them, just hear them) Alan Parsons Project, Try Anything Once Eagles, Hell Freezes Over Sting, Mercury Falling

up at work, there're a few Rush CDs and the Beatles Anthology

here at the house, the only time I have on my stuff is when the kids aren't filling the airwaves with theirs, and I use whatever alone time I have to geek out on the Warner Bros. 75 year retrospective (4 CD set, includes all sorts of cool songs from movies going back to Al Jolson up through about 5 years ago or so.)

-- Lynda B. (, October 26, 1999.

these are my "can't live without" choices, if i have to pick only 5:

tori amos - little earthquakes various artists for the masses (tribute to depeche mode) staring at the sea - the cure garbage garbage - v2.0

i'm a total music junkie, though - my most-played list changes from week to week, if not from day to day.

-- ann monroe (, October 26, 1999.

-- Chris (, October 26, 1999.

dana bryant ; wishin from the top spoken word over african beats and voices. AMAZING.

sacred spirit ; collection number two (i think thats the name of it... my cds are in another country at this moment. classical instruments playing funky african grooves. _fabulous singing on this album.

al green ; oh, sorry. again, not having access to the actual cd, i can only recall the title by the colors of the cd... the album is white and green and al is standing next to a green plant in a white room, wearing a white suit.

morcheeba ; (either album)

whew... _this is tough_ choosing only five!!!

well, okay, id have to say that the fifth would be a tie between me'shell n'degeocello, lenny kravitz, anita baker, zap mama, stevie wonder, and maxwell.

-- emma (, October 26, 1999.

zap mama, afroeuropea1

lenny kravitz, my mama said

kenny dhoram, osmosis

ac/dc, powerage

nirvana, unplugged in new york

in order to create this list i had to leave off two favorites; metallica by metallica and shelter by the brand new heavies.

-- gianluca ferremi (, October 26, 1999.

This week I find myself listening to these five CD's--- 1. Beth Orton "Trailer Park" 2. Jack Kerouac "Reads On The Road" 3. The Innocence Mission "birds of my neighborhood" 4. Red House Painters "Retrospective" 5. My most favorite CD is Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited"-I told my wife I want played at my burial a song off this CD titled "Tombstone Blues"-also "Desolation Row"-well I close-Jonny

-- Jonny Ray Keen (, October 26, 1999.

1. Happy Rhodes - the Keep 2. City of Angels - Soundtrack 3. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes 4. Oscar & Lucinda - Soundtrack 5. Peter Gabriel - Us

-- tesserae (, October 26, 1999.

I am officially going to cheat: The last 5 CD's I listened to were Victoria Williams and the Loose Band - This Moment: Live in Toronto; David Usher - Little Songs; Gerry Mulligan and Paul Desmond - Quartet; Ofra Harnoy plays Tchaikovsky and Saint-Saens; and Ani Difranco - out of range. The most rotated CD's would be far beyond my current figuring-out-stuff capacity.

-- Marianne Aldrich (, October 27, 1999.

Playing CDs goes in cycles for me. I tend to play one or to to death and then move on to something else for a while. At the moment, the five cds in the stereo (it takes 5 cds how convienient!)are: 1. come on now social - indigo girls 2. shut up/kiss me - paul mcdermott & fiona horne 3. einstein on the beach - philip glass 4. nomads, indians, saints - indigo girls 5. grace - jeff buckley
