Glenn Falls

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

It's been a long time since I've posted an image, but here it goes. Last weekend I went to the Asheville, NC area, and stopped and hiked to Glenn Falls. Of all the images I took, I have two favorites, but I'm having problems with the one I prefer (it's the one pictured here). But before I address my problems with it, I'd like to see your suggestions. Thanks in advance for you all your input!

The other image I can't make my mind up about is here.

I like the photos, but the Jpeg sizes of 200K+ are far in excess of the suggested limit of 50KB for this forum... The one image has been (over) sharpened, the other not at all, making comparisons difficult.

Gordon, the image on this page shows as less than 8k in size on my machine. So Jason has certainly not gone over the 50k limit. There are numerous past posts with links to larger versions of photos. What is wrong with that? It might help to lable a link as to size, I guess. As for the photo...I like the composition of the above. However, on my monitor it appears that there is no detail in a lot of the shadow area. Does the original have detail in the shadows on the right?

I looked at both images, liked the larger one better, even though I don't like cotton candy water. Is there a time of day when you would get more light on the falls, and folliage towards the bottom of the photo. Pat
