OT? What happened to the 3 Japanese Nuke workers?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The newspapers did a great job of telling us about how the accident was caused by those guys mixing Nuclear stuff in a bucket instead of the right way, etc. But no followup on the fate of the 3 who were hospitalized after having received such a high hit of radiation. Anybody know what became of these three men?

Sadly, the question is not "what" happened to them, just "when" will it happen.

They were given "glowing" recommendations.

They are mere 'shadows' of their former selves

I read somewhere last night on the internet that they "are still hospitalized but showing signs of improvement" whatever that means> I honestly thought they would be gone by now.

Read in the "Wall Street Journal" October 12, 1999 front page that the plant was still leaking radiation due to a ventilation fan left on a week after the accident. It has since been turned off.

They are recovering - indicates just how resiliant the human body really is, doesn't it? - but are two still in the hospital under intensive care, one (I think) is still in the "regular care" section. (Not released yet, anyway.)
