U.N. chief will throw first pitch at Tuesday's World Series

------------------------------------------------------------------------

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - His pitch is usually to make peace, but on Tuesday U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan will be pitching the first ball in the World Series game between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Yankees.

Annan, who played soccer during his youth in Ghana and now plays tennis, has been practicing to get the pitch right, U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said Friday.

The secretary-general was asked a few months ago by major league officials to throw out the first pitch, but the offer was firmed up last week when the Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox in the American League championship game, Eckhard said.

The World Series begins Saturday in Atlanta and Tuesday's contest will be the first home game at Yankees Stadium.

Is the secretary-general rooting for either team?

Eckhard said no - he's going to be strictly neutral.

========================================== End

Wonder if he will be leading the troops into NYC in December !!

Lest we forget, they are playing at **TURNER** field in Atlanta

i suppose its a small thing, but I find it irritating.

The push for one-world government is happening (and seemingly accepted) everywhere. I almost wish the republicans really were isolationist. I don't think there is a viable public official that is.

The only good thing about this is that the ArkenFurher won't degrade the game with his pitch. You never know where his hands have been.

Why does this strike me as bullshit? Why do I hope it is bullshit?

Kofi sucks Gaia.

To clarify my previous response:

Kofi suckles at the breast of Gaia, the mother goddess. He does not care for any American rights. He has a higher agenda, which he follows in his brainwashed mode. He is the enemy of the Constitution.

Kofi is an evil man.

Could it have had anything to do with it being United Nations Day on October 23rd???

Of course not. We know it was posturing, pure and simple.

*wink*
