(OT) Maybe not: We are lied to EVERY DAY

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I urge you, nay, I beg you to read the article in Strafor.com regarding NATO's inability to produce the 11,000 dead Kosovars that our govt. used to justify the bombing of one of the capital cities in Europe. More and more I become ashamed of being an American. General Smedly Butler (USMC) who led the veteran's march on Washington in the 30's said it right. "Our government is a racket. We could teach Al Capone a few tricks"

I used to be a very conservative DUMB American for most of my life. I was proud to serve in the military and dedicate my life to law enforcement. I urged my two sons to join the Navy. Now, in the twilight of my years I understand that it's all a joke.

Please read the article in strafor.com and do some research on Gen. Butler. Its not about Clinton or Bush or FDR or Wilson. The evil of government crosses all political lines.

I am 62 yrs old. My Dad was an Anarchist and had to leave Mexico after the revolution because he feared being killed. For most of my life I was ashamed of him because of the Bullshit I was fed as a kid and as an adult. It is just recently that I understand and admire his position. He hated Communism with as much venom as he hated Capitalism. It is true that our fathers become smarter as we grow older.

Forgive my personal rant. I just thought I owed to my Dad.

Should these claims from NATO (read USA) turn out to be unsubstantiatable, Billy-Bob will be standing with his face covered in egg. 'Course, by then, he'll have found something else to distract everyone, including the 90's version of the "crowned heads of Europe" otherwise known as the governments in the rest of NATO.

Now, what relevance to Y2K?? Generally that the .gov has apparently lied quite solidly and quite openly here, and this sets an intersting expectational precedent.

I have a simple cure for your shame at being American. Leave. If it hurts you that much to be here, go somewhere else and become a citizen of that country. I suggest Costa Rica. Nice climate, lovely beaches, mountains for skiing. Perfect place to ride out Y2K, they NEVER have cold weather outside the mountains, and are a net food exporter. Land is cheap. People are friendly. They don't involve themselves in international affairs at all, which seems to suit your personality. And, while you don't say in your post, it seems likely you already know Spanish.

Take off man! I won't miss you.

Given the choice, I'll vote to keep Bill and give Paul a one way ticket.....anywhere.

The country will be much better off retaining someone who has the sense of decency to be ashamed of hideous actions than a scumbag who buys into every Clinton lie.

Bill, Welcome to the grand illusion - but don't be ashamed to be an American. I feel the same way about our government - I'm shamed of it. And ... I'm not sure at this stage, even if we had the help of the sheeple, we can change what's happening.

After my awakening several years ago I finally realized that it's all a hoax. I just laugh at the hoaxsters and jokers in DC and the media. Now it's painfully obvious that we have the most corrupt government this country has ever seen.

Since I'm on a roll - FEMA was here in Voulsia and Brevard counties Florida looking at storm damaged coastal homes to determine whether FEMA thinks they qualify for any federal assistance. FEMA's not sure. So these folks have to wait and see. But.... I did read in the paper this morning that the US is giving $100 million dollars to Nigeria because Nigeria says they're going to be a democracy.

Sorry for the pessimism folks - but some times I just get tired ot it.

Paul Davis, shame. "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Listen to yourself: because an American wonders whether there was a moral rationale for cluster bombing hospitals and children, and bombing a city of 3 million CIVILIANS in the heart of Europe, you tell him to leave the country. Rampant Archie Bunkerism: Love it or leave it. You would have made a good member of the SS, Mr. Davis: look the other way, just follow orders, my country right or wrong. Do you practice goose-stepping as well? What scum.

Dear Bill,

Many others share your feelings.

I suggest we need to read the writings of our country's founders and see if we can learn from their history. They spoke plainly. And yet they spoke with eloquent, vivid, moving and revealing words.

They speak directly to us today.

We should listen.

You know Bill, I used to feel the same way about the good ol' U.S. of A., then I traveled overseas and LIVED there/here. I am still overseas. Well, you know what? Our country is screwed up alright, but not nearly as screwed up as they are over here. Been on both sides of the world now and wouldn't choose either one to live in. I want to come home. yeah, I know it needs some work...okay a LOT of work, but that is the beauty of America. We are allowed to dissent and to change it. It is not easy and quite frankly, I don't feel like going to all the effort anymore. I am tired, man. But don't give up on it yet.

Paul, learn a bit about our country. It was founded by rabble rousers and upon dissent. That's all Bill was doing. Learn HOW to be an American before you go telling folks to leave.

Paul, your either very stupid or very uniformed. In either case, you have no excuse. It's idiots like you that the truly "Dumb" Americans. Why don't YOU go to Costa Rica? We won't miss you or your kind. Your dead wrong about this being a safe place. I have friends who went and came back.

Bill - as you aready know it is painful to wake up and smell the burned coffee. America is toast and many of us know it, like you. It's all based on fraud and deception. As so often said in this forum, we are going to get what we deserve.

Bill, I was an idealistic person while listening to the older people working for the UN FAO discuss the world as they saw it. No tv to distract us so the conversations were different and quite interesting. I was the only american there, the UN FAO staff came from all over the world.

They were very patient with me and my opinions on history and what the usa has doing to the world's people.

Their conversations made me question those values instilled in me by the controlled schools and media.

Nearly 30 years later, after extensive research on both sides of the story of what has happened and that includes buying books that would not be published in the usa because the books expose the 'controllers' my sad conclusions are ....

the 'controllers' have nothing but contempt for 'the cattle',

the 'cattle' are not getting any wiser,

the future of the usa looks like present day Mexico or India.

Y2k might change that so I am preparing for those 'Rainy Days'.

It's the Bill Solorzanos of this country who are going to be needed to enlighten the large groups of people sent into shock by what is going to come down in the next year. We are going to have to set them straight as to why it happened, how it happened and to offer comfort and admonishments to remember and pass along to their children and children's children how not to be complacent, trusting of big government, and foolish.

Thank you Bill.

I make it a habit to read all Bill's posts. This one is an example of why. He thinks.

Thanks Bill.

*Sigh*

I've learned more about the world and our government and our newsmedia studying Y2K over the past year, than I "ever" thought possible... or that I'd wanted to know.

In a word... it's a MESS. And that's before Y2K impact.

;-(

I'd suggest everyone stick a copy of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independance in their Y2K bug-out bags... in case.

Just remember... Shift Happens. (And we could all use some Angelic intervention.)

Who says I'm a patriot? Not much of one, anyhow.

I just get the grippe over someone whining 'I don't like AmeriKKKa'.

WHO IS KEEPING YOU HERE?

Are the secret police twisting your arms? Are you being threatened with loss of your money if you leave? NO, YOU ARE NOT!

Unlike the Jews in the Soviet Union, unlike my Asiatic and Arabic friends whose families are literally held hostage to FORCE THEM to return to their country when they leave to study abroad, NO ONE is holding you here.

I did not say 'love it or leave it'. Nor did I ORDER you to leave.

YOU are the guy who said "More and more I become ashamed of being an American.".

So I ask YOU, WHO is forcing you to stay? If you can't stand being American, then change. Move north. Or south. It is that easy. In Canada, all you have to do is buy land. I think Costa Rica is much the same.

I will never understand why people who claim to despise the American system insist on staying here. If I despised the system, I would leave. It is just that simple. Hanging around a place you hate makes no sense whatsoever!

Paul,

This land is OUR land, the land of the free, and the brave. We are not going to allow ourselves be run off by a totalitarian government.

I agree with Paul. You have every right to voice your opinion and state what you believe is wrong with this country (that's what makes it great, you can't do that in China or Russia). But if you are so upset by what the gov does, do something about it. Either leave or get into office to make changes from within. Ranting gets you nowhere.

And to every one else, Paul has a right to live where he wants and say what he wants.

For me, I love it here. Yes the gov does lots of things wrong; I hate the prez and the first lady. But of all the places I visited I wouldn't want to live any other place.

So, Bill love it or leave it, your choice.

-- Maria (anon@ymous.com), October 20, 1999.

So, Bill love it an array of choices in between or leave it, your choice.

And,...the 'love it or leave it' refrain is non sequitur, roughly equivalent to: "Do you walk to school or carry your lunch?", and, "Is it closer to Dayton or by bus?"
