"Subject: Food Supply dependent on oil"

Yes it certainly is, along with 99% of whatever else it is that the human race is doing on this planet.

We have ignored the consequences of our dependence on oil, because they don't appear to have very much effect on the day-to-day activities of humans. Who cares about the oceans, the skies, or the animals... we are humans, and we can damn well survive anywhere or anything!

Maybe when we can no longer gorge ourselves on food, and drive our filthy death machines, it will finally start to sink in that we should not rely on a single resource for all of our energy needs, particularly such a deadly and costly one.

When men first looked out at other planets they concluded that we were the center of the universe, and everything else revolved around us. It is only upon the discovery of the scientific realities in our universe that we are forced to alter our egocentric perspective. Yet we still haven't figured it out, that humans are not superior to all other forms of life, and that in reality, it is only the perfect balance of the universal lifeforce which allows us to exist.

Y2K is about a lot more than the problems inherent in high technology. It is a wake up call that our actions as humans have now reached a level of such intensity that the repercussions are global, and that we are now disrupting the lifeforce of the entire planet.

We have been given free will to make the choices which are best for all forms of life, yet we continue to put ourselves first. So we continue to disrupt the balance, and maybe now the lessons are finally starting to hit home in a way that we can understand.

What other types of warning signs will we need to see before we decide to make the right choices for all that is life? If we can no longer drive to McDonald's and get our Big Mac, do you think maybe then we will begin to realize what we are doing?
