I recently got the pump adapter for the petromax. about ten years ago I had a pretty good bycycle tire pump, pretty expensive. cant remember the brand name. that pump would actually pump up my car tires, but after a while, it wouldnt do it any more. it was still good enough to pump bycycle tires, but lost the "oomph" to do car tires. any suggestions?

A good tire doesn't pump anything. Or, a good tire pump pumps air into a tire via the valve stem. Next.

Where did you get the pump attachment and how much did it cost, and how well does it work?

I bought a bike tire pump last year at Wal-Mart like one I bought ten years ago. It works great, the old one still works, but gave to my Mom.

to get the pump adapter, call brytelite. ph. 1-727-856-9245. it cost around 15 bux, with shipping and handling. it came within four days. dont know how it works yet, cuz i havent gotten around to buying a pump. I want a good pump, not a cheap bought at walmart deal. guess i"ll head on down to the local bike shop, and see whats available. I just thought some bike nuts could offer some opinions here. by the way "enough", fuck ya.

Check out Bike Nashbar at bikenashbar.com, click on "catalog" and then "floor pump". They have a dozen different tire pumps, and looking at the descriptions will at least give you an idea of what is available. I can't make any specific recommendations because the model we have been using for years is not made any more.

I always liked Schwinn pumps. Has a handy gauge built in. Can get at any bicycle store. Dunno if it can pump up car tire, though.

If you are pumping up bicycle tires, a generic hand pump will probably be fine(watch out for those disposable Chinese brands). The cheapie brands usually have failures where the rubber hose attaches to the pump body(it breaks loose and is timely to repair). If you need a pump for car tires, get a large, sturdy foot operated pump. I see good, used older ones at secondhand and thrift stores. Be careful with those Asien pieces of junk.
