Check out my city's hilarious (or scary) viewpoints on Y2K as the year has gone on...

My city is Plano, TX. I have visited the city web site from time to time in the past year to see if there is any useful information (HA!). Today I see this: articles on the progress of the Y2K situation with the city. The progression of subjects is what I found both funny and scary at the same time:

Feb. 99--"Y2K Compliance Readiness" March 99--"Y2K Update" May 99-"Y2K Update June 99--"Y2K Alarm System Check" (for your house's alarm system) June 99--"Y2K Contingency Planning" August 99--"Y2K Do's and Don'ts" Sept. 99--"Reporting Y2K Problems" (including such things as what to do if you come to a street light that isn't working and the web address for the Red Cross)

Nothing since then.

The address for these articles is (sorry don't know how to hot link)

Preparing,

One of the best ones I've seen in this regard was a question contained in Nextel's list of "Year 2000 Frequently Asked Questions."

It read:

"At midnight on December 31, 1999, if my phone does not work, is there a number I can call?"

Humans are silly. Yes indeed, we are. All of us, at one time or another.

Isn't Steve Heller from Plano?

I lived in Plano for about a year, but I'm not "from" there, and I don't live there anymore.

I am not from Plano, either. I grew up in a different suburb of Dallas. But I have lived in Plano for the last two years, and will be here in 74 days, as well. Don't know if that is good or bad.
