"Y2K: Ready or Not" is on NBC right now (12 pm CST)

Right now our NBC station is showing "Y2K: Ready or Not". Might be a re-run, I'm not sure, but right now they are focusing on Boulder's preparations and Paloma O'Riley. Going to see if it is the same happy smiley crap as usual. Not looking like it at this point.

Preparing - What market does you NBC station cover? I'm in southern Oregon and it's not on TV. Who's sponsoring it? AT&T was the sponsor last week in several markets.

I think that it's pretty lame for multi-billion dollar television syndcates/networks cannot have an up-to-date, in-depth y2k program. With all the talent, equipment, etc.

Why show an old show such as ready or not?

Yes, we all know mega-media is a sell-out whore, but they are as lame as can be not to be talented enough or intelligent enough to document and detail the biggest event of history (before and after)!

Without honor the boys in their high towers don't have the brains, heart, humanity or guts to produce a decent two part program (the problem/soultions). Something to assist the public and inform.

The BIG TV EXECTUTIVES ARE whimpy "GIRLY BOYS!"

PS: Not the NBC show is not nationwide.

Yep, it is being sponsored by AT&T. Started off promising, but they now are talking about stupid old BS like elevators falling and planes falling out of the sky. Good God. I turned it off. Gotta fill up my empty 2 liters.

This sounded like a goverment sponsored program. Don't take money out of the bank, don't use the phone to call your loved ones at new years. Don't panic... American's never panic... (If american's never panic why tell us not to panic).

Show did seem to be a little older...

Only caught the last 15 minutes but it sounded pretty much like "Don't worry be happy"....

A number of those "girlie boys' are heavily prepared for Y2K. Some performers refused millennium show offers and others in the industry were very open about their purchase of large water storage containers, generators and the like. The 2-3% is indeed a few from every walk of life.

Our local ABC station in Sacramento, Channel 10 just re-ran "Y2K, Ready or Not"

At least they are giving the subject some legitimacy....sponsored by AT&T......

ROFLMAO - People who saw the show today say it's the "same ole, same ole", yet when it was first viewed last week ... here's what everyone said:

"My son just called and said NBC just had an hour progtam on Y2K titled "Y2K Ready or Not". He told me it sounded just like what I have been telling him. Said they were talking about empty food shelves, lack of gasoline in the west ..."

"complete eye opener, not the little three day bit about a little bump in the road."

"I viewed is as 70/30 doomer/polly and felt that it would help more than hurt. "

"The main messages of the piece: 1. The government won't be there to feed us. No can do. 2. We should prepare as each of us sees fit. 3. There IS still time to purchase goods to take us through a few days or weeks of problems. 4. Those of us in the northern climes should address alternative sources of heat."

"I thought for the first time on National Television they came close to telling the real story. I was amazed that they showed the woman packing a gun into her BOB, and the young boys practising shoting with a 22."

What I (personally) find most interesting, is that it's been sponsored by AT&T.

I've been enjoying the little "Road to Y2K" vignettes on TNT. They take a fairly good-humored approahc, but haven't mocked Y2K preps; they do seem to capture the sense of confusion that many people have about Y2K and its impacts. Recent one had Kathy Garcia of Boulder (CO) Y2K talking about chem plants and contingencies. The "interviewer" put his head in his hand and said something half-seriously about "really needing some Prozac right about now."

Planting seeds with a very light touch...

"Y2K:Ready or NOT" was shown in Ohio Sunday....it was raining and probably everyone was at home. Considering the total lack of ANY Y2k news on the tube or in the paper, I believe that this program may have been the FIRST message some of the people have ever seen concerning the need to prepare. This evening, at the grocery, I must have seen at least 20 individuals with their carts filed with nothing but soup, bisquick, bottled water, beans, sugar, salt and lots of toilet paper! This was unusual..The program may have been the "same old stuff" to the guys who visit here on a regular basis. But, apparently, it was enough to make a few clueless people make a move.
