Using the pulp from the juicer

I use a juicer a lot and I was wondering if the pulp from the vegetables could be dehydrated and have the same nutrient value as dehydrating before juicing?

Carrot pulp is like eating sawdust. Dried carrot pulp would be like eating sand. I always put my pulp in the garden. Dig a hole and fill it and then dig another hole .......I also juice everyday. If we cannot get fresh veggies during Y2K we will concentrate more on sprouting. We found a grain warehouse that sells dried peas 25LBS for only $6.50 Tastes just like fresh garden peas when you sprout them! I bought 300LBS!!!

What kind of peas did you sprout? Blackeye, field, crowder, or green? I hope you say blackeye because last New Year's a lb package was selling for fifteen cents. I bought many, many packages. I sprout wheat and the kids love the sweet taste and the little kids thinks it is neat to eat food like a cow! Thanks for the tip about the pulp. I will use it for my berry vines.

We give it to the chickens. We also pick up tons of scraps from the inlaws (and just about everything that isn't rotten) to feed to the chickens.

It turns out that pigs apparently *can* fly, but only for short distances... [g]

Hi, Carol! We use our carrot pulp for many things...sometimes I make a carrot cake (email me if you want the recipe), sometimes I add it to a vegetable soup, or in "garden burgers", and the rest we put in our compost pile.

Won't the juicer be too power-hungry for regular Y2K food preparation?

If you can still use it, try this:

Vegetarian Mock Tunafish Sandwich

(OK, OK, it's not really like tunafish, and it's orange)

Mix the carrot pulp with finely-minced onions and celery and mayonnaise. Then spread on a sandwhich. You can enhance with seasonings, and a little mashed tofu, then spread on bread with a little more mayo.

Not bad in a punch. I actually like it.

Actually it's probably VERY bad in a PUNCH, but it's not bad in a PINCH.
