S&P futures down 23, talking heads scared-and-a-half, looks like it's gonna be a bad one.

CNNfn's lead story for this morning:

Wholesale prices jumped 1.1 percent in September, the government said Friday -- the biggest rise in nine years and well above economists' forecasts, while the core producer price index also came in above expectations. The 30-year Treasury fell after the report, pushing the yield to 6.35 percent from 6.32 percent Thursday, on fresh inflation worries.

Wall St. braces for jolt
   6:50 a ET
U.S. investors early Friday braced for what could be a sharply lower open on Wall Street after Fed chairman Alan Greenspan issued a warning on stock trading risks that sent international markets and the S&P futures index plummeting overnight.

OK, we'll have a bad day on Wall Street today. So?

I expect the market to tumble at some point due to Y2K, but having the market drop a few hundred more is no big deal if it comes right back up again.

Couldn't we wait for a more substantial drop before declaring TEOTWAWKI for Wall Street?

The PPI says it all. I think Grenspan knew what the PPI was going to be when he made his speech.

WATCH THE OPEN TODAY, its going to be better than "Springer" !

I predict the market will fall, but rally toward the end of the day and finish only 35-66 points behind where it started today.

Bloomberg reports that S&P DEC Futures fall 32 points which is the limit for the day. Is there a limit on this future trading??

I'ma relying on the Brain and the Big Kahuna and that porky cop looking guy and the squaky chicken lady Maria and the forehead monster who's on after them, to talk it up...talk it up.. Tell the saps it's a great buying opportunity. Just keep it afloat for one more week, at which time I'll be able to trade - leagalised bank robbery I like to look at it as. I went to buy some put options the other night, thinking I was just in time, but E-trade sez "oh no. You need to send us a permission slip before you can buy options. Buy some shares instead." Yeah-huh! Like now is a good time to buy shares....bwaha-etc. I need to score pre-'00 on the CBOE, or else my preps will be negligible.

PS, Sorry G. Gecko, I just don't think Maria Bartiromo is so hot. For instance, she couldn't hold a candle to Lorraine Hahn or Saxon Baines, (although that does paint a pretty picture. Hmmmm ;)

PPS, it was always an inherently fuckin stoopid idea to run a planet like a casino. I'm pretty confident that someone somewhere else in the universe has worked out one or two better ways to do it. Adieu.

I like this very much.

Market open 20 minutes, curbs in already.

DOWCH!!!

I just checked in with my boys on CNBC. Their performance was very unconvincing. Mark was blinking much too rapidly and was wearing a silly hat. Joe and Brain don't know how to hide their lies with their voices. And there were far too many 42-week-pregnant pauses. The special guest obfuscator was hopeless; today, of all days, they should have scheduled a schill with a bit of charisma and a plausible spiel. His quote for the day...

"We'll be FINE....unless we have a high volume selling panic."

Oooooh, that makes me confident!

Four figure Dow today?
