My checkout girl says that Y2k is a crock, but I am buying those corn flakes and I'll eat them without milk. Just how many boxes will I need for a family of four?

Flakygirl,

Thanks for your inspiring remarks. For all practical purposes, interest in Y2K books, Y2K preparation, or any other kind of Y2K planning, has dropped to zero. There may still be a few pollys out there who are convinced that the whole Y2K phenomenon was a plot by Darth Vader to steal money from innocent yokels, but for the most part, nobody cares any more...

77 days to go...

Thanks for the tip Ron. You should pick up some powdered milk or how about canned milk...and oatmeal is good too with added health benefits.

Your family will tire very quickly of eating cornflakes everyday. Is that the only brand on sale? I have $2.00/off coupons for HoneyNut Cherrios, (you have to buy 2) they are on sale for 1.89 each. So I will be paying 89 cents each. No sugar to add, and they wil make great snacks. However, if you are only limited to buying cornflakes, crunch them up and use as a coating to fry SPAM, tuna or salmon patties. Use them in place of bread crumbs when called for in recipes. Clip coupons in the Sunday paper and save $$$$ on your storage bill.

Does your checkout girl like to mudwrestle?

At the grocery checkout today I saw a large stack of cute stuffed critters, with black heads and blue furry bodies, "Y2K Bug" embroidered on their tummies. Could have passed for Beanies, that's how cute they were. Almost bought one to put on my computer. Then it hit me how sick the idea of it was.

The (most probably) Polly maker is going to make at least 100 times more money with this toy than Yourdon is with his book. And pollies say guys like Yourdon are out to make a buck off of Y2K. Ah well, at least the pollies' kids will have a cute toy to cuddle with if they don't get their cornflakes.
