BFI suffers meltdown from two big storms--not even 3-day types!!!

Couple of big storms came through the night it went down. Hammered the server with TWO power outages within a few minutes of each other. Caused various problems, took a few days to work them out, esp. since everyone involved with this project was very busy at the time. Could not have come at a worse time.

Sounds like the biffys are pollies in the non-Y2K world, too. Any realist knows that servers need power protection like an UPS.

Unless you're someone who "just knows" that nothing bad like power outages due to storms or squirrels will ever happen. And that preparing for such possibilities sets a terribly bad example for any other web site operators out there whom you're trying to convince to avoid the expense and waste of buying power protection.

Or from buying Y2K protection, such as in the form of a food supply. I wonder if we'll get a buncha polly posts on how this is a good Y2K analogy; "The power was back on in less than a day. See, they can fix it quick!" (Never mind that the server was trashed and had to be replaced at great expense.)

Polly wanna server?

WW, Just had a look and there's what appears to be a six-day gap in posts. No wonder the trolls have been so active lately!
