Millennium resolution to be read on Britain's TV stations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LONDON (AP) - A millennium resolution calling for world peace will be recited on Britain's national television stations just before midnight Dec. 31. The government also announced Thursday that the resolution will be sung at the opening ceremony of Britain's Millennium Dome as the clock ticks down to the 21st century.

The British Broadcasting Corp. plans to have one individual read the resolution, the words of which were announced earlier by the churches of England, Scotland and Wales. ITV will show a group of people reciting the words with lighted candles in a rural setting.

A copy of the resolution, along with a candle, will be distributed to every household in Britain.

Churches hope people will light the candle and read the resolution as close to midnight as possible.

The resolution says: ``Let there be respect for Earth, peace for its people, love in our lives, delight in the good, forgiveness for past wrongs, and from now on a new start.''

I think distributing candles to every household in Britain at rollover is an exceptionally prudent idea.

One can only hope...

...and as soon as the resolution has been spoken, then POOOOOOFFF, a cloud of Tinkerbell's stardust bursts over the entire face of the earth causing peace and harmony among all nations, cultures and creeds!! Yeeeehaaaaaa!!!

I think is beautiful, but instead of a resolution of spoken words...maybe 2 or 3 meteors could strike the earth and scare the bajeesus out of everyone! Words mean little in this day and age. Im for ANYTHING that will make some POSITIVE changes.

just a thought.

Except for the part about distributing candles, this sounds a lot like rock painting to me.

barf. i wonder if this is coming out of either of these two global- kind-of-one-world-govt-and-religion projects.

the second web site is to an organization that is under the auspices of the UN (although they don't want that to be public just yet--i believe they will have their coming out party June 26, 2000.)

notice some of the links and projects related to the second link-- pretty freaky-especially the ones aimed at converting our children into thinking these money and power-hungry US-hating creeps are peace loving folks who wouldn't dare think aobut socialism and the totalitarian government they really want to impose on us.

IMHO .... With all those candle lit , I sure hope all the fire stations can respond to all those fires . Great combination ; millions of naked flames , plus millions of inebriated citizens. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen ! Eagle

Hey, if it will make the Brits feel good without embibing large quantities and give them an emergency candle, I'm all for it.

tt has it right. This is a heeby geeby thing. "They" is written all over it. Who are "they" anyway?

Anyone notice the logo? What is that anyway? Looks like an War Dove (as opposed to a peace Dove) as part of a hand coming up out of the depths to me.
