Tourney 2 - I'm going to do something very dramatic...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Yeah that's right - I'm going to do something very dramatic... I don't know if a lot of people are going to like it - but I think with this gang voting crap going on, it's time to change the rules - yeah I know - changing the rules in mid-tournament is bad... but this is gang voting is ridiculous.

On October 15th, 2359 GMT, the voting will end for this tournament... sort of. And yeah... I'm killing the hidden deadline. A little bit later, I will announce the top 30 games that were voted in. In those 30 games, we will vote again for the top 10 games. YOU GET TO VOTE ONLY ONCE(YOU MAY NOT CHANGE YOUR VOTE, ONCE YOU'VE DECIDED, YOU'RE DECIDED!) This will have a deadline of October 20th, 2359 GMT.

I think picking 30 random games is a great idea given by Q.T. Quazar - I'm really tempted to do this for the next tournament - it would make things VERY interesting indeed...

As usual, please give your objections... and I know there will be a bunch...

No objections here. And the random games idea sounds cool, too. Don't be afraid to change stuff, it's not firmed up until after a year or so, IMO. I'm just here to play, I'll abide by whatever the rules are. I'm only riled by excessive lameness. ;)

Cheers,

good idear, some of us gang voters were exploiting the loopholes not just to get a favorite game in but to make something like this happen :) it worked!

Great. No objections. Especially the fact that people are continuously changing there votes is ridiculous.

Good choice, and I didn't even have to try to force Venture or Devil Zone in :)

With the idea of a random number process deciding the tourney, I do have another program, this one acts like a lotto drawing machine, and can do the process of drawing 10 numbers from 1 to 30. GB, get in touch with me if you want me to draw up ten and give them to you.

OK. I realise I am too late with this, but if you take the top 30 games that were voted in and then let people vote for 10 out of those, then, guess what? I haven't done the exact math, but the gang voters will get at least 5 or so of their games in the tournament now, because that top 30 contains pretty much every game that the gang voters voted for, and then the gang voters can gang vote once again...

It would have been a lot fairer to take the top 30 right BEFORE the gang voting began...
