FLU SHOT

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I'm new here -have been reading posts for a couple days and am amazed. May GOD be with us. Would like to know if anyone has any input on the flu shot that they're saying we need. I have taken a flu shot every year but something is telling me not to take it this year--don't want something running through my veins that I don't want but I also can't afford to get sick.

I just had my flu shot not more than an hour ago. I've only had one in the past but heard this year's strain is particularly virulent. What could possibly be telling you not to get a shot this year? Just my luck I'll find out that there's something "wrong" with the vaccine.

i work in healthcare. my counterparts were actually discussing that yesterday that they had heard it was going to be a rough flu season and all had decided to get flu shots?

Curly Q,

Suspect the reason you're worried is because of all the conspiracy garbage those here at STINKBOMB 2000 spew out every day. Something along the lines of "it (the flue shot) must be part of a vast conspiracy by TPTB to take control and enslave me into their NWO". Guess it must be the "secret ingredient" the "secret agents" of TPTB put into the vacine, huh?

This is not meant as an insult to you, Curly Q. My point is that when you entertain too much of the doomer puke here, you start "seeing" and "worrying"...like a little kid who watches a scary movie, then goes to bed, and sees shadows and "bad things" in the room.

NICE MOUTH, (sub)Genius. You use that on your sig other?? WHoooeeeee.

i just got one at the local grocery store. i get one every year, and have done so for about five years. ihave not had the flu since. i also heard this years strain was especialy nasty. get that flu shot!

-- ed (edrider007@aol.com), October 12, 1999.

No offense taken Genius. You just told me me your opinion and that is exactly what I asked for. Thank you. I'll get it tommarow. Thanks everyone.

-- Curly~Q (past1@pbtcomm.net), October 12, 1999.

While I do believe there are many cases of 2 or more people "conspiring" against others...

I say go with the vaccine. The vaccine manufacturer shouldn't matter, they all use what the World Health Organization (WHO) say to include in the vaccine. What to include was decided by the WHO in September or so. I don't know if the Alaska "cruise-ship" strain is included.

While there are some problems with some vaccines for a minority of people (not to be confused with so-called "minorities" in the US), the FLU vaccines are about as safe as vaccines get.

Genius, I would go ahead and get the flu shot. Just don't get the flue shot, that's the one with the mind control shit in it.

-- CygnusXI (noburnt@toast.net), October 12, 1999.

Looks like Genius already got his "flue" shot...and look what it did to HIS mind.

-- Roland (nottelling@nowhere.com), October 12, 1999.

Wasn't thinking about mind control but gov. experments on the population. Wouldn't know why I wouldn't trust the gov!!!!!!

Curly-Q, welcome to the best forum around for getting good, accurate information. It has greatly helped all of us who frequent it. To reassure you, I am a senior citizen with asthma. I have an excellent physician who would never recommend anything that might harm me. On lunch hour I went to him for my annual flu shot, which I would never be without. I have not had the flu for the dozen or so years I have taken the flu shots. This reduces my risk of bronchial complications as well. With the extra-cold winter that is being predicted, the worse type of flu that is being warned about, I think everyone should avail themselves of this precaution. Particularly in the light of the fact that we just do not know how much medical care will be available after the turn of the year if we do become ill.

No, you won't find people here who think the government put anything nasty into the vaccine, believe me.

If you are new to this forum, and then possibly new to preparations, then visit the TB2000 Preparation Forum on greenspun.com//bboard and get some other really good advice as well. May God bless you.

I have never had the flu shot and I have had the flu once in my 22 years of life. (Strangly enough it was after flu season. No one else was sick but me and boy was I sick.)

If there is a virulent and here-to unknown form of flu on the way (say on the level of the 1918 pandemic) there is no way that a flu shot will help. You can't be vaccinated against something never before encountered. And as for the antiviral drugs the Zantex or whatever pharmacutical company keeps yaking about; if we get a flu as virulent as the one that EVERY SINGLE PERSON on the planet got in 1918, they won't work for the simple fact that they won't have time to work. Patients were contracting the flu and dieing within HOURS of it.

Unless you have natural antibodies to the next massive influenza outbreak (and, at the risk of being called a "doomer" it will come), you are shit out of luck. Go get your flu shot, it'll protect you against the strains doctors have encountered and aren't very virulent to begin with. (Except to those with compromised immune systems of course.)

BTW, my SO heard a report on the idiot box about a strain of flu somewhere in New York that showed up last Saturday, was incredibly virulent, infecting thousands by Sunday, and claiming it's first fatalities by monday (in the hundreds). Has anyone heard anything about this? My SO is a bit of a flake, owing to the fact he has more of a temporal smear then a point (He can start chattering on about things that haven't happened yet w/o informing you that they haven't happened.) but it does present a frightening picture for the 99/00 flu season.

-- typhonblue (typhonblue@hotmail.com), October 12, 1999.

I don't know this to be a fact, but have heard from an invited guest on a credible health forum that a flu shot will make people test HIV pos. This is how "reliable" the test is. I would be very interested in hearing any feedback. Save the flames please. If a person wanted to do a community service, they might gather the courage to test. As for me, I'm not gonna do it simply because I'm not gonna get one. Thanks.

-- KoFE (Them@dscientist.com), October 12, 1999.

Stats for 1918 flu:

US--675,000 dead

Worldwide--at least 20 million, perhaps as many as 40-50 million dead

Most who died succumbed within 3-5 days (not within hours).

Primary cause of death was pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) and secondary bacterial pneumonia.

There were no treatments for either condition at that time.

What's in a vaccine that could harm you?

hydrochloric acid formaldahyde mercury anti-freeze aluminum phosphate charcoal

DID YOU KNOW: The original Polio vaccine given in the 50's and 60's was contaminated with SV40 (simian virus) resulting in the deaths of 10's of millions of Americans from brain and kidney cancer. When this vaccine came out, Polio was on the decline. EVERY SINGLE CASE OF POLIO OCCURING AFTER THE VACCINATION DRIVE CAME FROM THE VACCINATION.

DID YOU KNOW: The Salk brothers were quoted in Science Magazine on their own vaccination to say "Live virus vaccines against flu or polio may in each instance produce the disease it is intended to prevent. The live virus against measles and mumps may produce such side effects as brain damage".

DID YOU KNOW: Hepatitis B vaccine was banned in France, yet the U.S. is actively practicing the vaccination of newborn babies for Hepatitis B even though 96% of Hepatitis-B contraction is through use of dirty needles or risky sexual practice. The real target group at risk are gays practicing unsafe sex and drug use. So why are our newborn children being shot up???? Their excuse is that the target group were not showing up to take the vaccine, so the logic was to vaccinate newborns who someday would become sexually active. Ludicrous? Even more so because hepatitis B boosters are needed every 6-7 years.

DID YOU KNOW: Our public schools are handing out disinformation about how hepatitis B is contracted, compelling parents to sign the consent forms for vaccination of their young children.

DID YOU KNOW: a projected 800,000 Americans will suffer debilitating effects from vaccinations every year (Taken from the CDC's own files)

How does ANY vaccine compromise your health? Listen to Dr. Leonard Horowitz. You need RealAudio to listen to the following archived program:

did you know: I dont give a fuck what happened that long ago. all I know is I was so sick from the flu i got 1993 I was delirious for three days. I couldnt blow my own head of with a shotgun if I had one next to the bed. i shit in one bucket while i threw up in another. when it was over, I promised myself never to laugh at a flu shot again.

-- ed (edrider007@aol.com), October 12, 1999.

I will be going in for mine on Friday... I live on an island where we have 1,000,000 visitors each year. With that kind of traffic, we get a lot of flue, etc. Even though this will decrease substantially in the next year, it is merely prudent to prepare.

-- Mad Monk (madmonk@hawaiian.net), October 13, 1999.

The word in medical circles here is that this flu is not particularly virulent--the outbreak is just occuring earlier than usual. The problem is that the vaccine was not ready to be dispensed early, but I suppose they are stepping up production to compensate.

The very young and the elderly are the most at risk. Other healthy people tend to just be inconvenienced by flu. But then, anyone they infect who is high risk may have to suffer because they transmitted the epidemic.

-- S. Kohl (kohl@hcpd.com), October 13, 1999.

Salk invented the *killed virus* vaccine, which did have a good success rate but did result in 200 cases of active polio and 11 deaths.

Sabin invented the *live virus* vaccine (the oral vaccine) which gradually replaced the Salk vaccine.

Salk Brothers? Nope.

Tens of millions dead from brain and kidney cancer in the US (from any cause)?????? Get real.

Sam if there were errors such as Salk vs Sabin, my apologies. As far as your disdain for the rest of it, you can direct it toward Dr. Leonard Horowitz. It is his research that has uncovered these unsavory facts. No one ever said the truth was easy to believe.

-- OR (orwelliator@biosys.net), October 13, 1999.

OR--

You've missed my point. Read the articles carefully. Nothing has been proven, one way or the other (except that some batches of polio vaccine were contaminated with sv40). Research is still being conducted. There are no conclusions, only theories and maybes and may haves.

Belief does not constitute proof.

The people of Salem, MA *belived* the bizzare behavior of a few girls was the result of witchcraft. It was later proven that their behavior was caused by ergot poisoning.

Not too long ago, many doctors believed that eggs were bad for you because of the cholesterol content. It has since been proven that eggs are not bad (or as bad) as they thought because of the ratio of HDLs to LDLs.

Some say Gulf War Syndrome is caused by exposure to Iraqi bioweapons; some say it is caused by the vaccines given to soldiers to protect them from bioweapons; some say it is caused by exposure to chemical toxins in the smoke from oil well fires. Some now say it may be caused by exposure to sv40 in polio vaccines, given 20 or 30 years ago. If a significant number of soldiers suffering from GWS were the same age and were given polio vaccine from the same lot and if that lot of vaccine was documented to be contaminated by sv40, then you might be able to draw a correlation between sv40 and GWS. The fact that GWS sufferers represent a wide range of ages (which would indicate vaccination at different times and from different lots) combined with the fact the onset of symptoms occured within a relatively short time frame (a few weeks or months), suggests the cause of the condition is most likely exposure to something present in the environment (bioweapons, smoke, etc.) or a reaction to the bioweapon vaccines. Of course, that is just my theory--it remains to be proven.

Anyway, get your facts straight when quoting others material. Tens of millions of people have not died from sv40 related brain and kidney cancers. The article says that sv40 caused brain and kidney tumors in lab hamsters and tens of millions of Americans may have been exposed to sv40 in contaminated polio vaccine. It also says that sv40 was isolated from human tumors in two cases. This is not enough evidence to conclude that sv40 is responsible for the cancers, or GWS, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or any other disease. Nor should one use sv40 as an example for the wholesale comdemnation of vaccination programs.

If you are afraid of vaccines, then by all means don't take them.

But don't scare other people with misinformation.

-- Sam Mcgee (weissacre@gwtc.net), October 13, 1999.

"Anyway, get your facts straight when quoting others material."

Excuse me pal, but I did correctly quote the material. If you had taken the time to listen to the interview then you would know from what I was quoting.

Otherwise, get YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

Thank you.

Right now, I have the misfortune to be suffering from this year's flu. It is very nasty. Expect fever, congestion, exhaustion, cramps, very sore and swollen throat, loss of appetite. For two weeks so far.

The flu shot may be a good bet.
