Press Release 10-11-99

Thanks for visiting but unfortunately we are now off the air!

Starting from a small beginning in 1998, Y2K News Radio had gained a tremendous audience. We were being broadcast on three separate networks, being uplinked to two separate satellites, and being received by over 70 radio stations nationwide. Two short wave signals sent us overseas. We carried the daily news and interviewed a different y2k personality every single day. All these shows are archived and hopefully will be available if needed for future reference by either historians or others.

The end happened very suddenly. Within minutes before we were to go on the air on October 7th, we were told that the underlying sponsor who had originally arranged the network and satellite space had cancelled these contracts. Furthermore, the primary network we were using had already taken the opportunity and sold our time slot to the show preceding ours. We were left without a time slot, and without the needed financial backing to continue the show. We were not even allowed one last show to say "goodbye" to an estimated audience of over a half million people.

It is our understanding this was a business decision by this corporation who no longer wanted their company to be associated with any type of y2k message.

I understand their position. The cost to produce a show as large as this one had become, was several hundred dollars every day. This cost had been borne entirely by this other company and myself. They, like myself and many other community minded people, have spent tons of money and energy trying to increase y2k awareness. In receipt for our sacrifices and financial generosity, weve increasingly become targets of criticism and ridicule.

The governments official position that this is "nothing more than a three day snowstorm" and the continued implication that anyone who feels or says differently is a "fear and doom monger who will actually cause these problems to happen if they dont shut up", has been very successful. Slowly, one by one, the few shining points of light that had been giving solid y2k information to the public have either been starved off, or forced out of business, by a growing public misinformation campaign directed by the White House Year 2000 Council. This effort is being paid for by our tax dollars.

If y2k proves to be more than a "three day snowstorm", I would like to be the first witness on the list before the inevitable "search for the guilty" that politics dictate will ensue. As an active member of the media who has spent countless hours and many personal dollars following this upcoming event, Ive been in an excellent position to witness the entire y2k story, from start to finish. I know the entire cast of characters and will be quite willing to testify before the Senate when the time comes to publicly explain why the public was purposely mislead.

When this is all over Y2K News Network will have a lot to offer both historians and the media. Our Radio Show has over 200 taped shows and expert interviews, the printed magazine was extended over 18 months and 36 issues, and the web site captured every y2k story every day for two years. In fact, in reviewing recent FEMA testimony describing the amount of literature they distributed about y2k, Y2K News out-distributed FEMA by almost 2 to 1!

We were in a unique position to witness, and document, the events leading up to the year 2000 "computer rollover".

TPTB can try to silence the truth and cut the realists, but THEY CANNOT STOP THE CLOCK !!

Anyone know who the corporate sponsor was?

I don't normally jump to conclusions or believe in conspirancies, but this really seems fishy.

Guilt by association perhaps? This DOES stink...like a road kill skunk in the high noon heat...Stay Tooned!!!

Folks, I'm not going to get angry anymore. Y2K News sponsored the event just prior to the "Senate Report" which clued me in.

I'm making a list, checking it twice...Also, stockpiling ROPE!

It is not unusual that they would be cut off at the very last minute. They were 'escorted' out the door. Typical controlling attitude. They did not want to allow the parties to express anything over the air.

Someone had a talking to with the 'corporate sponsor' who 'saw the light'. Was it the promise of the attention of one of those 6,800 IRS auditors? I suppose we will never know.

But this does point out the reach of the tentacles of the beast. They are choking off all voices which do not at least become 'neutral' or 'equivocating' to a degree which would contribute to the slumber of the nation.

They are playing for keeps aren't they?

...K. Stevens ("I'm making a list, checking it twice...Also, stockpiling ROPE!"):

That's an EXCELLENT idea. If things start "going south" big time, believe me, there WILL be "rope shortages!" But, just for the heck of it, who is going to feel most betrayed -- the GI's, or the DGI's/DWGI's? (That's a rhetorical question, BTW...)

A wise person ruled by intellect and not emotion might conclude, if the powers that be do not want the public mobilized for Y2K than it is in ones own best interest to become discreet.

Paula,

You are correct. I should have phrased my comments differently. My point is that "The Senate" that y2knews so lookes forward to testifying, is completely complicit in this ongoing Chrade. At least with respect to this issue, Checks and Balances is dead.

Paula, who are you? When did you come on the Forum? Recently? Sorry, must have missed your intro.

-- old regular (reading@TB2K.now), October 12, 1999.

The corporate sponsor was Swiss America (a company that sells gold). Write them a letter and tell them what you think. You can find their website at http://www.buycoin.com

-- Gopher (someone@large.com), October 12, 1999.

Swiss America?? Someone must have gotten to them
