Answers

The link given in #130 to the outfit selling the "Starlight" unit is dead. I found it here, renamed Nightstar.

Turns out they have two designs. Starlight ($65) uses springs at each end to cushion the impact, Nightstar ($79) uses magnets to do the same thing. Check out Differences.
