I own a 98 Ford Explorer for which the tabs are coming due on 11-30-99. I just received my license renewal bill for the year (to the tune of almost $700.00!!!) My question is this: Should I hold off paying my tabs, not drive the vehicle in the month of December and license it in January 2000? Or will the state hose me by grandfathering the 1998 tax. Julie-- If I-695 passes, you could park your car for the month of December and get your tags in January at the $30 rate. If you drive your vehicle during December and get caught, someone posted (in another thread) that you'd be subject to a $71 fine if you got caught.
