BankBison sold out to a competitor earlier this year and according to Computerworld they gave their Y2K programmers a well deserved kick out the door, a heave-ho, a see-you-around-clown, a don't call us, we'll call you. I don't know if that's true, you know how the computer press is.

As the executives sold the company, they could be heard subvocalizing, "Suc---kers" and "BWAHAHAHA".

A-social-Security may *say* they're done but last month, I saw SSA source code that was still being remediated.  They used some kind of automated tool on some of their code, called it done but WHOOPSIE!  It screwed up.  (Imagine Pia Zadora saying WHOOPSIE, throwing up her hands and her clothes falling off.)

Hard to be done a year ago when they're still working on the code today. I'll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today.

At the same time that I was pawing over genuine SSA code with my donut dust covered hands, Kathy Adams, the SSA Y2K Tsarina, was bailing out.

While I'm certain that Kathy got a fine offer of an executive position in industry, it's very suspecious that she's lowering the lifeboat a few months before the big celebration, the one where she's aclaimed as the genius of Y2K.

Terrific try pal but Hoffy won "best Doomer article" prize.  Don't lose heart, you'll do better next time.  Maybe you can work with BOZO999 on some gooooo-ood polly-platitudes.  (Imagine Andy of Mayberry saying gooooo-ood and shaking his head.)

Cory,

Stop! That white bread'll kill ya. Go for the whole wheat, home ground. Peanut butter's cool, good protein, but pitch the white bread. Mold won't even grow on the stuff. :)

[snort!] So BankBoston legally claims they're compliant, and in answer Cory says the bank was bought out (By Fleet, I believe). Talk about a non sequitur. I guess if you buy a compliant bank, it's not compliant any more? Correction -- *a* thinks changing owners scrambles the code. I nominate this exchange for "least coherent", although Cory competes with himself for this award consistently.

Actually Flint, changing owners can "scramble" the code. It is a well know fact that the merger and acquisition process has hampered the y2k remediation effort, and in some cases deals have been put on ice by the SEC and banking community because of this fear. I guess you think stuff like that is sorted out automatically by the Software Fairy.
