Will this forum remain open post-000101?

Just curious: What are the plans for this forum after the new year?

Regards,
Andy Ray

Only one way to find out dude. Wait and see what happens.

I hope that it continues so that we can monitor all of what we believe will be happening at that time...I believe that this forum will be even more valuable after rollover...What better resource to have then the collective wisdom of all that use this forum now. If the site can handle the extra traffic, think of all the new-newbees, that will, in there panic, need helpful direction from folks that have been thinking of this problem for months and years. Hopefully where still up and running in January...---...

If power, telecom and the net are up, I'll be here.

Where else?

Either exchanging info to help each other or raising a collective cheer at being wrong.

Better hope so Andy Ray, else where will you go to gloat, given that 98% of the general population care not a sh*t about y2k, this forum, or you.

-- Count Vronsky (vronsky@anna.lit), October 11, 1999.

The rollover may be bad, it may not,

But if EVEN half of what the US government is saying about Y2K Abroad is true(bad news), there will be lots to discuss next year. If the fourm is still alive, the net is up, and california has not dropped in to the sea, I'll be here. I will be interested to see what is happening and how people are coping.

Things will get worse before they get better.

AR

You will be happy to know that Phil Greenspun has every intention of keeping the Forums on his site continuing well past Y2K.

Now will your provider still be on line :o)

by "open" do you mean not password protected? I for one would like to see the big crow-eating party, post 2000. There are some "pollies" who have stuck it out through some very VERY vicious attacks by some seriously ignorant people. It would be nice to see them "get their day" and have a laugh at the fools who were berating them in ignorance for years.

I hope if the password strategy is adopted, a few of the regular pessimists (and I mean that in a nice way...some of you a very funny and ALWAYS curteous!) will provide the password to a few on the "opposing side (lol!)" so the crow-eating can happen, and this whole thing can be forgotten and we can move forward as a united people in the new millenium.

-- LTL (NOYB@T.THISTIME), October 11, 1999.

I think it will be "funny" as well but only because the "pollies" will jump in for the "crow eating party" too early I am certain It will be interesting to see who jumps in one minute past midnight to say "SEE! the world hasn't stopped!"....patience

LTL

Are you on drugs? Restricting access to the forum has never been an option from what I have read here. Personally I wouldn't come back if the forum was password restricted.

Where did you get the idea that this place would be a closed forum?

Pollies get hit on here not only because of their views, but because they attack the forum. This is the hight of stupidity, attacking something that they don't care about. What a waste of time.

I have offered several times to set up a "polly forum" on the Greenspun site so there can be a place you folks can post intelligent commentary about the minimal effects of the CDC. No takers so far. So if you have something to say, the net has plenty of capacity to express your own views. No one is stopping you. Ever.

This forum and the internet may be here. There is some doubt still.

The big question for Andy Ray should be, "Will I still be here?"

-- am i walking (am.i.talking@still.oops), October 11, 1999.

Andy Ray:

I'm sure this place will continue to devolve into the gubmint fearin', minority hatin', tabacky chewin', white-wing compendium that so many here desire. The kooks will keep their heads low until we tire of waiting to bait them and then re-appear to talk about the next "threat" later in the year.

The only question is what that threat will be. The U.N.? The Trilateral Commission? The Bildebergers? Poisin contrails? Black helicopters? Alien invasion? When you're talkin' 'bout the Tinfoil psyche, you can never know fer sure...

Y2K Pro! So nice to hear from you again.

So, how's the aviation remediation coming?

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), October 11, 1999.

Welcome back Pro. I see that you still don't "get it."

Maybe Andy Ray = Y2K Pro? You both find a few far out examples, and say that it represents the hundreds of people that make this forum. You guys crack me up!!!

Tick... Tock... <:00=

Lisa,

I would tell you but I'm afraid it doesn't fit your "booga-booga the sky is falling" beliefs. Sorry.

-- Y2K Pro (y2kpro1@hotmail.com), October 11, 1999.

Hopefully the forum will be up in 2000 but without infantile arrogant trolls like you, Andy Ray. Of course, you'll probably be dead by next summer anyway.

-- cody (cody@y2ksurvive.com), October 11, 1999.

(...meanwhile, I await those who decried my earlier characterisation of the "few" who hope for the demise of those with whom they disagree; those I stated - and believe - support such opinions by their silence; to speak up and prove me inaccurate in my former assessment...)

Patient Regards,
Andy Ray

Hey Andy

The question for all of us is:

Will any of us be here?

You seem to have missed the point, which is Y2K is deadly.

-- no talking please (breadlines@soupkitchen.gov), October 11, 1999.

Hell, this might be the best source of first-hand reports. Bet your butt I'll be here.

-- @ (@@@.@), October 11, 1999.

If the phone, power, and 'net are up come January 1, I plan to be checking in. If not, check for me on 6 meters...

-- Mad Monk (madmonk@hawaiian.net), October 13, 1999.

Andy Ray,

I await your reply to the 26 answers on that thread. Interesting that you start a thread and don't bother to check back, yet complain that you "await."

I also await your reply to this thread, that you also started.
