London, Oct. 11 (Bloomberg) -- European stocks are likely to rise, led by banks after a newspaper report that Italy's UniCredito Italiano SpA and Spain's Banco Bilboa Vizcaya SA may be planning the region's first cross-border bank merger.
Mining stocks may gain after a unit of London-based Anglo American Plc made a takeover offer for Australia's Acacia Resources Ltd.
