OT: Okay, Its Time For A Silicon Valley Y2K Get-Together...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The Silly Valley sky is blue with a crisp fragrant twist in the air. Time for a Y2K party.

Anyone interested in a pot-luck gathering at a South Bay Area park? (Possibly around the Los Gatos/Lake Vasona area?)

Contemplating Sunday afternoon, October 17th. Sometime... about 1:00ish... after the local Farmers Market.

Check in here and/or e-mail me, if interested.

Thanks,

Diane

(((Gag)))

Uh... well...

Pollys, Middlegrounders & Doomers... we welcome all.

*Sigh*

It's an equal-opportunity pot-luck.

I hate to sound like your local bank on "Y2K scams", but everyone should be VERY CAREFUL on how much info you give out to other "Y2K preppers" at a non-RSVP type gathering. It's late enough, and Y2K is at least getting enough mainstream attention, to where there probably is at least a chance that someone may try to "scam" their way into figuring out who has stuff that might be worth stealing. All it would take is someone claiming to be a "long time lurker", or even a well known poster who really is not.

Let's be careful out there.

KOS,

They can R.S.V.P to me. (It helps to be a Sysop sometimes!)

I so wish I could attend, but 3000 miles is a bit much to meet all my pals.

And I agree with His Majesty: Don't post any more info on the board. Then require a secret password to gain entry, such as "Why yes, I do mud wrestle."

Have fun, and I want a full report the next day.

dagnabbit...I'm gonna be up that way around the 17th...of November! : (

Otherwise...it sounds great!!! Hey, there's a "South Bay" area down here, why don't you make it Redondo Beach? : )

I must echo semper paratus.

Yes please, any ahh minutes from your party that you would deem worth sharing would really be appreciated.

Unlike semper paratus, I don't expect them the next day: after all... it might be a very good party. :)

Now Diane if you made it the BBC (British Bankers Club) in Menlo Park I might fly in for a Guinness or two :)

Oooo, Andy! Maybe another time? Good spot!

I think it'll be a small gathering by the response so far, also one person suggested we "bring-our-own" rather than make it pot-luck since nobody knows anyone. Fine with me. Kids okay too.

I'll share the hot charcoals!

Michael Taylor, you better PLAN on meeting me for a caffe latte when you're up here in November... and that's NOT OPTIONAL my friend!

;-D
