HEY FOLKS, LISTEN UP! A couple of us are trying to put together a get together in the Ann Arbor area, on a weekend to be selected NOT MUCH later. Is there any interest? Does anyone have a suggestion as to where? Or which weekend??

Chuck, you can count me in. I'm tired of being in the dark..... [G]

The email is real, you can touch bases with me to set something up.

Ann Arbor sounds good.

Count me in!!!

Up in the Brighton/Howell area just north of AA

Many restaurants around the Briarwood Mall area I-94 and State St.

I won't be there, but you guys should consider something akin to what we do. I score for Winston Cup, and others just go, but we gather at Talledega each year. Folks from as far away as Ontario and Alaska are involved! Don't get any sombreros, but they're welcome, too. We've got intellectuals and bubba's, one helluva party, great conversation, fellowship, ideas, jeesh! I'm leaving Wednesday, won't be back till Monday, and my wife said Bye! See ya! My dad said boys gotta go "butt heads", Mom never interfered. Last year, we had three guys from Australia there. Can't wait till Thiursday when I get there, I think I'll start drinkin' NOW!!!!!!

I'm about 1.5 from A2, and am interesting. Word of advice: if you're going to have it on a Saturday and Michigan has a home game, traffic may be somewhat congested, restaurants may be crowded downtown.

October is busy. Are we talking within the next couple of weeks, or out a month? My email's real if you have any questions.

-- Tim (pixmo@pixelquest.com), October 09, 1999.

I'm 1.5 hours away from A2...

definitely need to slow down when typing :::thwaps forehead:::

I forget when the Ohio State game is, but if it's in Ohio that would be the perfect day. LOL We'll see what we can do. BTW space, please drop me an e-?? It's about motorsports, NOT the effin forum.

Chuck:

-- Mike 9.5 (sheadwor@ionia.k12.mi.us), October 10, 1999.

GEEEEZE, Mike!! I REALLY WISH I could invite you, but you aren't even ON the stats page!!

This is for CONCERNED people. COME ON!! ******SKNSZKRT *cough* *spit* **COUGH** BRLEAH!!!

Couldn't do it with a straight keyboard!!! OF COURSE it's OPEN to LURKERS!!!!!! WTF You think we ARE, anyway???? elitist??????

Bring your bod, your significant other(s), a Y2K Prep Toy or 2, whatever. Don't hesitate to bring some barter prep stuff, etc.

We'll set a date as soon as we get a bit more input on which weekend people are available, etc. At this point, since I'm gonna be travelling about 3 hours, MINIMUM, it'll be a late brunch or really early dinner (think 12:30 or so). Course I may not be the first one there, so start thinking about times, Saturdays, places, etc.

In defference to those of us who have no problem with the fruit of either the grain, hops, or grape; it will probably be somewhere that serves alcohol.

In deference to those who require periodic inhalator treatments with roasted tobacianna smoke, we'll probably select a spot that allows smoking.

Chuck....about 40 miles from A2 and would really like to be there if possible...post a time and location...I think we all need a chance to talk to SOMEONE....

-- (Tom@needtotalk.com), October 10, 1999.

Chuck,

Interested but would have to see if it works for my schedule. I travel Ohio and live midwest Indiana. Michigan a tad far but have been know to do some wild and crazy things!:> Keep us posted on progress.

I'm in... 30 minutes from ann arbor

-- jeremiah (braponspdetroit@hotmail.com), October 11, 1999.

I have two correspondents who have said they may be able to go. One works some Saturday nights. One is open on weekends.

Saturday would be the best for me.

-- mushroom (mushroom_bs_too_long@yahoo.com), October 11, 1999.

Let's target the 30th (should be Sat.) around noon:30 or 1:30. Can someone find us a place that will be amenable to a moderately rowdy bunch of folks who will prpobably eat and whatever, and will end up heading out to the cars more than a few times???

If there are (something) Buffet's in the area that have a meeting room, that would be SUPER (except for the lack of adult beverages, but I can cope if everyone else can). And yes, I have forgotten the name of the chain. Hell to get OLD!!

Anyway, if one of the locals who has e-d me would see what they can find, and e-me again, we'll exchange phones and I'll call ya and we'll get it set up.

Chuck, who is NO Harlan Diamond (NE and Central Ohio in joke)

Chuck: Great idea! Michigan has home games on Oct 23rd and Nov. 6th, but plays Indiana away from home on October 30th, so that date is perfect. I suggest Dominick's, on campus behind the Law Quad. It has pastas, pizza, wine, beer and the best sangria I know of. Food is fine, prices are reasonable, and if the weather is right, there's a good- sized courtyard with long tables, fountain, etc., or big balconies or inside on three levels. There is a University parking garage a block away, plus the great diag and campus to hang out at before and/or after the get together. If you would like me to get a reservation, just let me know how many you expect and I'd be glad to arrange it. I'll e-mail you my phone number, which I prefer over cyberspace. (O.K., call me a Luddite....not far off!)

My friend and colleague Alan and I wrote a long article, published last March 1st, on "Y2K: Planning for the Unforeseeable" in Agenda, a local magazine, hoping to organize the community as a whole, but gave up, due to a combination of ideological conflicts, individualistic goals and periodic hysteria! If you like, you can check it out at http://www.provide.net/~aelewis/y2ko/y2ko_506.htm and info on the Huron Valley Bioregion Greens Y2K Group at http://www.provide.net/~aelewis/hvby/hvby_000.htm however, we no longer hold meetings. ( Alan would also like to attend the meeting if he is in town.)

Thanks a bunch for taking the initiative!

*Y*E*S*!!!!!

You ARE a WINNER, RICH!!

As far as how many, I haven't a clue.

Post EXPLICIT directions that even a cabbie from out of town might be able to follow, and I'll retart the thread at the top of the list with the dir's and time/date. MAYBE we will get a handle on numbers.

Hello Chucck and everybody, I made a reservation At CASA DOMINICK'S in Ann Arbor for Noon 'til 5 or 6 on Saturday, Oct. 30th for anywhere from 10 to 25 pe0ple. It's at 812 Monroe Street, behind the Law Quad of the University. It's not hard to find:

From either East or West on I-94, take the State Road exit, North; it turns into State Street. Drive about 2+ miles into town, past the athletic complex, past Pacckard Road and Hill Street; the next street is Monroe. Turn right two blocks to Dominick's, on your right.

From North or South on Route 23, take the Washtenaw Avenue exit West on Washtenaw. Caaution: after awhile, Washtenaaw bends to the right; follow it (not Stadium) to Hill Street (at the painted rock) and turn left (west) to State Street; then turn right on State one block to Monroe and right again to Dominicck's in the 2nd block on the right.

Parking: The owner said that on Saturdays when the team is playing out of town there's usually parking on the street (some are 3-hour meters); Better leave a little extra time in case you need to park a few blocks away...good practice for Y2K! I goofed on that garage a block away...it's by permit only, but there is ample visitor parking a few blocks west on Thompson Street, if necessary.

As I said on the first thread, Dominicck serves excellent pastas (about $6), pizzas, sandwiches, sshrimp specialties, wine, beer, a great house-recipe sangria, mixed drinks, soft drinks, in a funky, nifty atmosphere, family-owned and operated since l960...one of my two mosst favorite spots in town...(no, I'm not related!)

Questions, Chucck: What time? 12:30? 1:00? 1:30? Also, wwwhat's the agenda? a good excuse for a party and to meet the folks on the web? Fine by me! To exchange information? To pontificate? To brain-storm? Also fine by me. Do we need a mike? If any of the fforegoing needs modification, expansion or cancellation, please let me know. And folks, you might like to spend some time checking out the "Diag" (the campus); I'm biased 'cause I live here, but I think it's the best-blended mix of town and gown in America! See you soon! Oh, and if necessary, phone Dominick's at (734) 662-5414.
