MN yourdonites - new or not-so-new : Would you like to get together for a meeting?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

After reading winna's post below, I got to thinking about getting other MN residents together for a y2k meeting. Like her, a need a bit of a psyche boost and it would be interesting to compare notes, share stories, show our best "y2k item" etc. I would like to have it in the TC area. However, I don't live in the Twin cities, so if anyone who lives there can think of a place to have it, I would really appreciate it.

This offer is also open to those in the surrounding states, newbies, etc. Serious replies only please. If you think this is too dangerous at this point don't come. I can respect that. I am taking some time off from work the last week of November so that works best for me, but that is probably too late, and too close to the Xmas holidays. Any suggestions as to where and when to have it are welcome.

Living in MN brings its own special concerns re:y2k. We have the cold, snow, wind to deal with which could spell catastrophe bigtime.

What do you think? Is this something you want to consider? E-mail is real. I will be reading the responses later today

Too far away, but I'll share my 'item'. One 5 foot piece 3" PVC - one 3' to 1.5" reducer and a 1.5" checkvalve. Put these together in a logical fashion, attach a rope and manually lift 2 gallons of water out of a 4" or larger well casing. Of course, this will not work with a submersible in place, but well depth is no problem. Cost - under $10

BH,

Can you be more specific, please.I have a 130ft well with a submersible in it.I am worried what I would do to extract that water without power.Of course I have a generator, but must have other plan to retreive manually,in case I run out of fuel.
