Will the Winter Olympics 2002 in Salt lake City be cancelled?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Salt Lake City is spending a fortune in preparing for the 2002 Olympics. Totally rebuilding I-15 Freeway, new bridges and more traffic lanes! Widening all roads leading to the Canyons! Local traffic is a total disaster right now! They plan to have the Freeway finished in 2001.

FAT CHANCE!

For the Olympics they are building a Lite Rail System, which the people voted against! A Government not for the people, but against the people! Beaurocrats are the same everywhere! No brains and no sense! Busses are running empty now! Lite Rail will also run empty! People who have money to go see the Olympics will rent cars and not ride Lite Rail or busses!!!

In 2002 they may try to hold the Olympics,....but nobody will come!

No, the 2002 Olympics will not be cancelled. There will be plenty of snow. The world population will need the (welcome) diversion as we struggle through the depression/recession. Tickets will be relatively cheap, but travel will be difficult. Bring your own bag lunch!

And public works projects are a common way to try to (re-) jump start the economy.

The Olympics will go on. There is enough bribe money out there to ensure this.

Sport is the current opium of the masses, so great efforts will be made to ensure that the olympics, plus big-time sports like football (of all types) will go on, if that's possible.

The government will do all they can to amke sure the sheeples recieve their opium. They might even figure out how to keep the power on an extrad day so we can have New Years day football.

There will be no olympics in 2002. Most atheletes will be dead, along with most of the people who would care to watch them.

Its@comingsoon has a good point. He could be right!

I look at all the current construction projects here and think, "This will never get done...people 10 years from now will be staring at this stuff."

Never mind Salt Lake City in 2002 - what about Sid-er-ney (in joke ) in 2000?

Personally, I don't think it's going to happen and the 2000 Olympics will either be cancelled or drastically reduced. Which is a shame, coz I was hoping to rent out my properties to rich Americans at exorbitant prices.
