KIO3 may cause birth defects!

I just happen to notice that KIO3 is a teratogen (causes birth defects) according to my Aldrich Chemical Co. catalog. Be careful.

What about its effects on young girls before their child-bearing years? Are eggs permanently affected?

Someone said kelp is a good substitute for KI. That's harmless, I think.
