Luck : LUSENET : Naked Eye : One Thread

Do you think you make your own luck (with your behavior, your actions, your "youness") or do you think luck is a random process?

Personally, I think you make your own luck.

And I consider myself a lucky person.

we *definately* create our own luck.

Hiya Catherine!

It's these Celtic roots of mine I guess. I believe in talismans and reading good luck signs in the clouds. I think we can step into that groove where serendipity is a natural occurence if we only allow ourselves to believe it can be so. Here's a site you might find interesting -

I agree. I think that we make our own luck. I think that every time we make a conscious decision to be kind, or deliberately help someone, especially someone who will never be in a position to do anything good back to us (ie a total stranger), we are making our own luck.

I think that we make our own luck that way because other people seem instinctively drawn to inner strength, and it takes strength to do the right thing, and to be generous to others. I also think that it is never to late to start working on that strenght.

We make our own relationship to the world, to ourselves and to other people, but luck is random, good and bad. If I thought otherwise, then I'd throw dice for a livin

My grandmother once told me, "You get back what you give." Actually, she might have told me that dozens of times. I guess I don't believe so much in luck as I do in creating a positive sphere around me where good things are bound to happen.

Not that this happens all that often or anything, but ...nothing makes me feel better than to be able to do something nice for someone for no reason other than it is the nice thing to do, the right thing to do or simply because I can do it at that moment. It doesn't have to be a big thing at all. It can really be as small as helping someone across the street. I like to think that karma will out and that sort of kindness will be returned to me sometime when I need it, but honestly, feeling that positive about something is a sort of reward in itself, isn't it? I know this sounds sappy, but it's what I think.

And I don't want you to think I am a goody goody, or that don't have my own share of anger and impatience. But sometimes even us curmudgeons transcend.

I do not believe in "luck"-to me such an idea means that existence has no purpose-that there is no divine plan. I believe God is sovereign and all events in the world-my individual history are determined by God. I believe there is a path that leads to blessings on ones life-and there is a path that leads to destruction. We reap what we sow as the Good Book says. I consider myself a blessed person in that I have a relationship with God. I know God to be my heavenly Father and by divine grace I am His son-in that spiritual realization I consider myself blessed not lucky.

Catherine: I consider we create good or bad "luck" with our thoughts, that are energy. We also get good or bad luck with our attitude towards life: if we abide by fate and try to give the best of ourselves into each moment and situation, or if we complain or regret about our existence.

Well...I don't think of it as luck, I think of it as Fate. And I never could bow to Fate. Never.--Al
