Photo: Mack Sennett Comedy Girls

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I have a framed panoramic photograph (37" wide X 11" high) of the Mack Sennett Comedy Girls. In the right hand lower corner the photographer has signed in black ink and in block letters the name EVANS and underlined it. Directly beneath the underline and in block letters is L.A. Off to the side of the name is a "c" with a circle around it which I think is a temporary copywrite. Down at the bottom of the photo and in the center postion is a photo title, MACK SENNETT COMEDY GIRLS, VENICE PARADE, 1917. This title is also hand signed in black ink and in block letters.

There are 18 girls standing shoulder to shoulder on a beach and all have on typical 1917 bathing suits. The photo is remarkable because it is panoramic and close up.

Does anyone know anything about the photographer? Does anyone know if the photo is worth anything? If so, a ball park figure would be appreciated. Does anyone know who I could contact on the internet who could shed some light on this photo?

Thanks in advance,

CL
