where do you buy gold?

Let's say you had enough cash laying around to buy an ounce of gold. Where would you go to actually make the purchase?

You could look in the Yellow Pages under coin dealers or pawn shops and give them a call. I've personally had good dealings with www.ajpm.com. Or you try to buy some from Andy (but I think he only has 1,000-oz. bars).

The fastest and closest way is to look in the Yellow Pages under "coin-collectibles" and go to a local coin dealer. That is where I make all my purchases. And I would buy silver first. Silver has not gone up yet, but historically it follows gold's lead just like platinum does.

I am going out this afternoon to trade some gold for silver, BTW. Silver is lagging and hasn't gone up significantly. It is still less than $6 an ounce. But then, that is just me.

If you want the gold now look up gold in the phone book. Nuismatic (or something like that)dealers are quite nice. Also good to know where they are. If you want to purchase but can wait for up to 2 weeks (I never can) goto www.agpm.com. With this dip in the price you may be entering at the right time.

If an ouncewas what I was after I would break it up into 1/10th ounce pieces. That way if you have to trade it you can a little at a time.

Buy it online -- hassle free. Any amount, reasonable shipping.

They will lock in the price for you when you order, so don't worry if it goes up before they ship it.

...and it's so fun when it arrives.
