Steve Forbes and y2k

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just handed Steve Forbes a copy of Ed Yourdon's open letter to Alan Greenspan and told him that taking a proactive stand on y2k would serve him well in his bid for the presidency. Let's hope that at least he reads it. He is already campaigning here in Monroe, La.

Irving, Check posting three below yours. Note what magazine the writer works for. Somehow I'm not too sure about Stevie-boy but you never know.

Forbes has made previous Y2K statements during his campaign speeches. But it seems like he's hedging his comments so not to look too alarmist. Still, he has acknowledged that there can be some serious problems due to Y2K, which puts him far ahead in any "reality perception skills" portion of my personal candidate screening checklist. I wonder if on next year's campaign trail will Forbes be willing to sit down with the common folks for rice and beans? Maybe that should be the next Y2K test somebody puts him to.

That and realize thar any billionaire who could put up with being drafted, making it through boot camp and then serving his two years as an Army cook at Ft Dix has got to have a genuine sense of humility and the ability to be in touch with regular people. Heck, as a former Army cook he might even still have some pretty good field recipes memorized.

Forbes for President: Y2K Aware & he can cook, too!

Have had contact with him and, surprisingly, I was NOT just an extension of the steering wheel. He actually engaged me for about a minute, which is better than some of the McBoozlings will.

I'm voting for Jesse Ventura, he's my kind of guy. Upfront, matter-of-fact, right to the point, and tell's it like it is. We need someone like Jessee who isn't wishy washy and tickle my ears type of person. I hope he runs for the presidency.

Since when does a intolerant, divisive, anti-religious bigot become a hero to vote for??????

Hitler had charm too but was "deceptive."

WAKE UP please.

Interesting -- but chances are that Steve Forbes will confuse me with Ed Yardeni. For what it's worth, Paula Gordon hand-delivered a copy of my open letter to Alan Greenspan at a World Bank conference in Washington last week. So far, I've gotten no phone calls or emails from anyone at the Federal Reserve .. but I'm also pleased to announce that my home has not been fire-bombed, nor has anyone shot at me.
