To the "but its a cut for the rich" cry babies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Alright, I am getting tired of this whole 'Its a tax cut for the rich' crap; YES CRAP!

First off this is America, everyone here has the chance to get someplace if they choose to, and you are where you are because you CHOSE to be there.

In regards to this saving rich people money, so what you save them $100 or $300 more a year then you save yourself, do you think people like Bill Gates cares if he spends $1000 or $30 a year on his car? NO, Bill Gates spent $30,000 in taxes for a library card instead of opting out of the library system.

The concept that more needs to be taken away from the rich and more needs to be given to the poor is sickening, and its complaining that many wouldn't make if they were making those higher dollars themselves.

Those people who tell you about how much money you will save the rich, and how much of a tax cut it is for them are telling you a view they want you to hear! Your being spoon fed. Think about this, a person who buys a car must pay SALES TAX, and if its worth over a certain dollar amount they must also pay a LUXERY TAX. Who here thinks that the value of your car doesn't increase the taxes you pay upon purchase?

You must also realize that taxation shouldn't be based on how much you do or do not make, it should be based on how much the government should be allowed to have from our pockets.

The bottom line is everyone has to pay taxes when they purchase their car, put gas in, repair & maintain, and license. They are sticking you with a tax on everything that is related to your vehicle, regardless of who you think is getting stuck more, the fact remains is IT DOESN'T MATTER, however what does matter is that our government overtaxes the people, and its about time people stop saying no and not pointing to those that have more money.

-Tony Our Founding Fathers Revolted over a 3% Tea Tax... what is the amount of taxation you would revolt at? Currently all Americans pay close to 60% of their total income in taxes.

GREAT SPEECH TONY!! I couldn't have said it better!! Anyone can be as rich or as poor as they want in this country, it's all a matter of where YOU want to be.

I'm also tired of people who abuse the welfare system and can't get off their lazy butt and turn off Oprah and get a job. What's even more sickening is the people at freeway offramps asking for money whereas all around them are jobs, jobs, jobs! So what if it only pays $7.00 an hour! To some people, that's enough to live on here in some places and it's better to make an honest living, than being a cyst on the people! I hate panhandlers!

But since this is about tab fees, I must say that people who do and can buy a more luxury car pay through the nose for it, whereas Joe Bluecollar who buys his car through the classifieds doesn't have to pay on the taxes or markups, just the tabs. He saves $$$ doing it this way.

Come on people! Shouldn't the Government ask you for more tax money from your pocket!?

Like you said tony, you are where you are because you chose to be there. Have you given democracy a chance in Washington? Have you ever been to a council meeting? Do you pay attention to what your electeds are doing and vote accordingly?

Washington State is one of the 4 best governed states in the U.S. It doesn't come cheap. Going back to your statement, if you don't like it, move somewhere with less government, facilities, services, etc.

P. Timmons, Yes I chose to be where I am, and any debts or problems I have are my own fault. - Have you given democracy a chance in Washington? Isn't playing an active roll in this initiative part of democracy? Isn't that what being an Amercian is about? If not then perhaps you should rethink. - have you ever been to a council meeting? I have been to a few political discussions, council meetings, watched the Redmond City Council on T.V., been to DOT meetings. Infact I remember one DOT meeting in particular. I went to the one on the West Side of Lake Washington. They had a representative at each table to answer questions. Someone from the DOT spoke through a microphone the points they wanted out then shut down the microphone system and removed it from the room completely. They kept everyone in small groups and kept their questions quiet. One person called for a more open forum so all could hear him, they denied him. The figures that the DOT gave out were actually incorrect, showing their numbers in a way that lead anyone who didn't understand them to believe we were in big trouble. The next week they had a meeting on the East Side of Lake Washington, this one was much more different. After the DOT spoke and went the turn off the P.A. system some of the people who attended the previous meeting called for an open microphone discussion where everyone would be able to ask and answer questions all could here, when they refused a large group of people took the microphone and made it verbal. The DOT tried to stop them but they realized real fast that the people who attended wouldn't have it. It turned out to be a very informative meeting since those that attended had time to do more research since they new the topics. - Do you pay attention to what your electeds are doing and vote accordingly? The problem with this is much of what they vote on is secret. There was an interesting news story about the Congress and how those who voted would vote opposite of what they told their voters knowing that they would never know. - Washington State is one of the 4 best governed states in the U.S. It doesn't come cheap. Where do you get this fact? - Going back to your statement, if you don't like it, move somewhere with less government, facilities, services, etc. I am not moving anywhere. This country wasn't founded so I could give all my money to the government for services, the government isn't suppose to be in the Service Industry, McDonalds and Burger King are for service, the government is for representation of the people.
