Berg Blue Tone "bleaching"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

I recently used Berg Brilliant Blue Tone for only the second time and I noticed that it seems to bleach a lot of the image off the paper. I am wondering if using the solution full-strength intensifies this, or if it is some reaction to the hypo-clear used after a few minutes of washing (between tone and clear). I am also wondering if this "bleaching effect" will be reversed by partial redevelopment according to the instructions that came with the toner.

Berg Blue Toner is an iron toner. It is acid-fast. Placing the print in Hypo Clear or any alkaline solution will remove the tone AND the image. Dribble a little acetic acid in the wash water. Better still, don't use it. It is not archival, very difficult to control, and even more difficult to repeat.
