The Idiots I Deal With

"Every morning I rise at about 5 a.m. I begin posting by 5:15. I post for 4-5 hours. I write copy. I check lots of items that are not useful, which takes time. I analyze arguments. I create links to forgotten or obscure Web pages. I cover two dozen fields."

How many of the dgi's bother to get up at 5 in the morning? Ho many of them analyze arguemnts? How many create links to forgotten or obscure Web pages?

"People are looking death in the face, and they worry about spelling -- not the evidence, not the proof -- SPELLING!!!"

This is what it all boils down to for the dgi's. Spelling. All they care about is spelling. They'd rather read Webster's Dictionary than read Time Bomb 2000.

They probably never have sent their dollar bills into Dr. North so he can keep his forums up. 3 months, we will all see in 3 months.

I to have run into this spelling arguement in the recent past. And a total ignoring of my request that some one relate his / her qualifications i.e. professional experience concerning embeded systems and their actual installation on various industrial sites.(This was of course my request to the honorable Fact Finder on a post that has just scrolled off the end of the list).

This is / was only one of more than a few occasions that I have asked some one for a history of their feild of expertise..... Only to have my question totally ignored as if I had never put forward my question, or else I didn't exhist one.

I am the first one to admit that I am an old shirt tailed Electrican (but I have had more than a little education in the embeded systems feild over the last 32 years or so). And I believe a little conversant as to the make up of subsets, PLC's and on site modifications of said equipment.

When one makes jabbing remarks about things, ask for their references/qualifcations. I have known people who could pass a state electrical licencing test, who would be fired from a job the first day they hired out...Why? They were not electricans! They were collage taught in the code book and math. But had never seen switch gear, the inside of a multiplex breaker, or even how to bend conduit. Or tell you the phasing colors for 120/240 volt (A phase is black...B phase is red.... C phase is blue) Or the phase color for 277/480 volts either. Brown...Orange...Yellow.

A Suggestion If You Buy a Dell

Comment:

I like Dell computers. They are reliable machines. But. . . .

Fill out the order on the Web (www.dell.com), even if you buy over the phone. The Web order software may not take your order -- it refused to take mine -- but it will give you a price total. When you call Dell and order the identical machine, be sure they sell it to you at the price on the Web. If you should be asked to pay more, FAX or e-mail the screen's image, with its price.

A word to the wise is sufficient.

*hum* just why would Gary be ordering a new computer????? I mean, I know he did not flat out say he was buying one, but he sure implied it.
