Rebel G metering more accurate than the Rebel 2000?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I've heard that a British magazine did a 10 consumer grade camera faceoff and the results proved that the old six-segment Rebel G performs better than the 35-segment Rebel 2000. Whatsup here? Have we all been taken in by more smoke-and-mirrors type marketing?

No. Every camera is going to be a bit different. This includes the metering. The important thing is to learn how each body will preform under specific conditions. That way you will know if the results the metere came up with need a bit of user intervention. Bacially, it boils down to learning waht the camera will do and how to get it to do what you want it to.

If the meters were perfect, we would not need any of those knobs on the tops of camera...
