Anyone know if Radio Shack sells a LED that is bright enough to use in a homemade flashlight? Thanks Mike

Yes they do...Several actually. Don't have a catalog handy though. Seems to me I have a 10mm 11 candella yellow LED I got from them.

I made the mistake of buying the cc trek light from the c, crane company. I sent it back the next day for a totaly satisfying refund. It was the biggest disapointment of an excuse for a flashlight I have ever seen in my life.

Here ya go, mike. Straight off the blister pack.

Radio Shack part number 276-205, Yellow Jumbo High Brightness LED. 10mm round, 6000mcd brightness. Forward voltage 2.8, forward current 50ma, power dissipation 130mw. I've converted a couple of flashlights, using these with a 47 ohm resistor in series. They produce about half the brightness of a standard flashlight, but you can go forever on a set of batteries.
