GOLDBUGS; Even if gold stocks (DROOY) go threw the roof....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

With the wild card of Y2K it may not matter. Granted, if, (when?) the stock market tanks, gold and gold stocks should take off, but it seems to me that there will be a time lag before increasing POG raises demand and then gold stocks will follow. In a normal gold bull market like 79 and 80 this was well and good but the specter of Y2K wasn't present then. If the stock market tanks this fall then I would imagine that gold stocks would really take off early next year, BUT; Y2k is only three months off and if the banks and brokerage houses go down and the third world collapses into chaos and anarchy, what good is DROOY stock even if it's exploding in value? Is the key here to ride the gold stocks until, say Dec 20 and then sell no matter what? Opinions please!!!!

I'll give you my opinion after you explain to me what "DROOY' is.

I have been wondering the same thing. As DROOY is a South African gold mining stock then it will be subject to the problems of the rollover. BMG might be better. I have DROOY and will wait and see.

I doubt it will drop in the meantime.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Buy physical bullion, not stock.

Short answer: DROOY is the NASDAQ symbol for Durban Roodepoort Deep Ltd ADR, a South African gold mining venture.
