Specter's opinion on Waco is clue to how govt handles Y2K

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Arlen Specter has anounced his committee is not going to bother looking into the Waco incident. To quote: "There's nothing we can do about Waco except correct procedures for the future".

This statement means he's reached one of two assumptions. Either he believes the authorities broke no laws, there was no illegal cover up, and there are no grounds of any kind for prosecution, (all this without bothering to even look into it)

OR.....

There is no chance of actually investigating and prosecuting any criminals in authority.

He's right on at least one of those counts, I am sure. More to the point it highlights the way Government deals with big problems. The answer is found before the question is designed, then the question is structured to come up with the desired answer. This might work with 'political' sujects but it won't fly on technical problems. Our government see's Y2K as a POLITICAL problem and has handled it that way. That dog don't hunt.

You can poll every computer in the world and all you'll get are a few beeps. Puters don't 'FEEL', they don't 'THINK' they just 'DO' as long as they are working correctly. If they are not put together right or the programming is broke then they 'DON'T'.

I have this mental picture of a politician like Arlen 'one bullet theory' Specter standing on top of a broken down car in the middle of a 500 car pileup, 'ordering' the car to start back up and move down the road. Surprisingly (at least to Arlen 'Bozo' Specter) the car does not seem to hear.

Spector ain't one of the good guys.

Let me phrase it another way. Spector does not practice morality, integrity or honesty.

Spector is also privy to the Project Monarch mind control program and supports it. For those in the know, that about says it all.
