MRE's in Missouri

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Gary North's story is accurate with the information we have. The MRE's are not for the general public.

From a strategic standpoint, these caches are near the Mississppi and Missouri rivers, a critical thoroughfare and essentially the gateway to the western US.

c4i,

Where are the rest of the stockpiles at? How much total? Anymore than normal?

-- BiGG (supersite@acronet.net), September 28, 1999.

This may have been mentioned before from the earlier post from c4i. In reverse the handle is i 4 c..... I For See. Maybe he does know something.

Yep.

This one's the "original" c4i.

Thanks guys.

Wow, nothing like confirmation!

So, yesterday there was a story regarding "shelters" for Y2k on the news and now we have MREs being put in strategic positions.

Time to put the preps into high gear!

If "The MRE's are not for the general public" then the quantities estimated on the zetatalk link (~16 million or ~32 million meals) seem excessive. Especially given the difficulties in distribution which can be expected if TSHTF.

-- Tom Carey (tomcarey@mindspring.com), September 28, 1999.

[sound of person opening Oxford Doomer Dictionary - ODD]

"confirmation"

"situation whereby an anonymous poster (who is given the thumbs up by Diane 'Thanks guys' Squire) says a rumour cited in a Gary North report is true"

[sound of ODD closing, followed by head scratching]

c4i, check out the postings below from last week. Are they real? are they significant? Are they you?

at ANY given time in the military, we had MASSIVE numbers of MREs onhand. If anything, they are being stored as the .gov just maybe running out of space for the BILLIONS of meals theyv'e had produced. Believe me...they,(the military) has a multi-billion meal storage on hand as war-stocks. Its called 'strategic stockpiling' Theoretically it's only to be used in time of war or National Emergency. Stop looking at the sinister side of it...and if they are there for the rollover, well more power to 'em. better the fed feed the DGIs instead of me having to share!!!

-- Billy-Boy (Rakkasn@Yahoo.com), September 28, 1999.

Thanks c4i. We appreciate whatever you are able to post.

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), September 28, 1999.

Strategic stockpiling, eh?

Hmmm.....

Sounds as if the government has always thought it prudent to be prepared. For 'some' people, huh?

I always thought it a clever trick being able to talk out of both sides of one's mouth. Ventriloquism is also intriguing. As is juggling those batons of fire.

Those things must take lots of practice.

Good catch Lewis!

Go up a level on the URL http://www.zetatalk.com/theword/ and look for...

9/12/98 9:03 PM 4908 tword20b.htm

However, perhaps c4i is just reacting to GNs latest as so many do, without checking... like most dont. That said... its more than likely the stockpiles are growing. Got logic?

Anywho...

See the earlier thread on this (sorry, I'm link impaired, but it's not that far down the list). The MRE storage story has been around for years -- 1996 that I know of, maybe earlier. It's sorta so-what in my book. If true, the .mil has to store the stuff somewhere, and the KC caverns are ideal for that. But I have yet to see confirmation from anyone on any of the three versions of the story I've seen so far. It's always a friend of a friend or a guy I picked up on the street and gave a roof to.

For anyone else who wants to spend the time looking for clues... go to info.gov and SEARCH on MRE food or various combinations thereof...

http://www.info.gov/ cgi-bin/search_gov

You could look up appropriations information...

http:// www.house.gov/spratt/news_48.htm

November 17, 1997
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) announced today that SOPAKCO, of Bennettsville, has won a major contract award from the Department of Defense. Spratt said the food processing firm will receive $19.8 million to produce 420,000 cases of "Meals Ready to Eat" (MRE) for the military. According to the terms of the contract, the Defense Department can buy up to 630,000 cases from SOPAKCO for a total award of $29.8 million.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

The shelf life of the MRE is three (3) years at 80 degrees F. However, the shelf life can be extended through the use of cold storage facilities prior to distribution

Domo arigato to our Japanese benefactor...

Military Message #3

snip

2. Y2K news since the last message:

2.a. OSD(c3i) has developed a Y2K action plan (ref k) which provides taskings for various DOD offices, services, and organizations.

2.a.1. Some normally scheduled requirements for training may have to be moved up to comply with end of year deadlines.

2.b. Any requests for inventory levels of DOD resources from non-DOD activities will be denied.

2.c. Ref h provides DOD priorities for DOD resource allocation during the Y2K transition period. It should be anticipated and publicized that not all requests from civil authorities will be filled.

3. Specific requirements:

3.a. Expectations: It should be publicized that federal agencies are ready for the Y2K transition and that there is little cause for concern about any domestic infrastructure breakdown.

3.b. Situational awareness: National Y2K policies and procedures are currently under development, including the construction of an information coordination center (ICC). The ICC is a White House level clearinghouse for Y2K information and will gather Y2K related data received both domestically and overseas.

3.c. Resource visibility: Request installation commanders, in accordance with the OSD Y2K action plan, appropriately conduct assessment and inventory of equipment likely to be requested to support MSCA (Military Support To Civil Authorities) missions. This compiled information should be passed through appropriate channels but will not be provided to non-DOD organizations.

That last line is interesting. Figure out what you will need, but don't publicize it.

-- Lewis (aslanshow@yahoo.com), September 28, 1999.

Does using a name like c4i and coming in through a .mil org enhance one's credibility, and cause critical thinking and logic to dissapate? Because if so, I can do that too!!!

-- Don Wegner (donfmwyo@earthlink.net), September 28, 1999.

Don,

It's not just "any" dot mil. BTW, c4i's posts are typically a call for further research... IMHO. (In other words, check and verify, if at all possible in the public domain).

Or it's also... a clue... in the Y2K mystery game.

Diane

-- Diane J. Squire (sacredspaces@yahoo.com), September 28, 1999.

Those limestone caves are a good deal cooler then 80 degrees; makes them a good place to store perishable MREs. would extend the shelf life. Another place is the interior of dams;a friend who got to tour several dams in the Pacific NW back in the 70s says they were full of thousands of cases of food. She was told that they were for nuclear war or natural disasters.

-- Ralph Kramden (and@awaywego.com), September 28, 1999.

Diane,

What wisdom has "c4i" imparted to us that we didn't already know? Why does everyone trip over themselves trying to play his/her silly game? Troll, I tell ya.

F.E. Warren Air Force Base is located here in Cheyenne. Within the last couple of years, it has moved up from being a "top ten target" to being THE top target in case of an all out nuke attack. I know lots of people out there at the base who have been keeping me abreast of the Y2K situation out there. If there was some deep dark secret concerning terrorist attacks or martial law, I would be all over it. I know several National Guard members as well. This whole thing is being blown out of proportion. Why, I'm not sure, but I have an idea.

If anyone watched that Tony Brown Journal the other night, there's some clues in there about the how's and the WHY's of intel gathering.

-- Don Wegner (donfmwyo@earthlink.net), September 29, 1999.

This is old hat and was hashed over on Y2K magazine, also on GN's forum and on this forum. The caves in Missouri have been rumored to stockpile everything from MRE's to Maidenform bras an condoms to cupcakes.

-- gilda (jess@listbot.com), October 02, 1999.

Hmmmm. MRE's are good and if I were to stuff my Maidenform with cupcakes, I made find myself in need of some condoms. Yessiree......
