I think it will go about the same as yesterday in this final hour. I say pretty close to yesterday's declines by the final bell.

-- just4kix (not@n.expert), September 24, 1999.

I don't know... there's some pretty good support at around 10200 on the Dow and 2700 on the Nasdaq... I think it'll bounce back up. It'll still close down but maybe around -50 to -100 on the Dow and around -48 on the Nasdaq. -11 or so on the S&P.

I have no real clue...just a gut feeling.

egads... just as I hit submit the Dow went under 10200 and the Nasdaq went under 2700...all bets are off...the market's gonna tank.

Market is down 122 and going. By the end of next week, we'll be below 10000.

-- Paul Hepperla (paulhep@terracom.net), September 24, 1999.

Paul,

I'll call you, and raise you 4 days. Under 10,000 by close Monday.

As I said yesterday on another thread concerning the market. The "BIG MONEY" is not about to let go of this yet. Wouldn"t be surprised to see it in the plus before the close

At 3:43 EST the market is actually UP 5 points??? What a wild ride...

-- .. (..@....), September 24, 1999.

this weeks and specifically todays market confirms what the big money is doing. It is as obvious as the nose on your face.

It all has been working out a little like a choreographed symphony!! unbelievable!

-- D.B. (dciinc@aol.com), September 24, 1999.

Wow! Now 2 minutes later at 3:45, its down -20...

Wait, now down -35 at 3:46...

Wait, now down -42 at 3:47...

-48 at 3:48...

Amazing

NO Clues here!!

15 minutes to go...

Dow climbed back into Green for the first time today. That must have set off some Sell programs, 'cause it dropped 40 points in 5 minutes.

This is almost as much fun to watch as the eighth race at Del Mar...

I gotta learn to trust my gut more.

The players obviously tried hard to get the market to close in positive territory but they were unsuccessful. Big psychological bullet to the brain. As a layman who's watched from the sidelines my take is that this was bad news. The market momentum seems to be on the downside and it's not going to bounce.

Yep, I think it's going under 10000 next week and I think it'll be Monday. IMHO, a whole lot of people are gonna be thinking about their profits over the weekend and wondering if it's not just best to walk away from the table with chips still in their pockets.

Monday = sell off.

lol Mac...I'm not sure what's more fun to watch...they market rollercoaster or the talking heads on CNBC trying to figure out what's going on.

I'm still kind of amazed at the bounce! Man...if it weren't for the program buying the market would have closed way down.

The Dow is currently at 10281. It wont take much to push that down, especially since it was actually below 10200 for a while there : )

I love the perspective and insight here!

This is nuts! The whole market - turned over to day traders! LOL

-- Paul Hepperla (paulhep@terracom.net), September 24, 1999.

i heard someone say it! this is just a "correction", but it may get worse as we get closer to Y2K. (DOW closed down 39 points)

-- sarah (qubr@aol.com), September 24, 1999.

Michael,

Haven't you ever heard of "The Dead Cat Bounce"?

-- flora (***@__._), September 24, 1999.

FYI: Dead Cat Bounce

-- Mac (sneak@lurk.hid), September 24, 1999.

Folks, the Dow Index is 30 stocks. We had another major DOWN day for many stocks on the NYSE.

-- Ray (ray@totacc.com), September 24, 1999.

Thank you , Mac. I was dreading having to ask flora what a "dead cat bounce" was. She's already gotten ample insight to my ignorance, and I didn't want to give her the big head.

Boy, oh boy. For the first time in my life, I feel like an insider. And I'm still scared spitless.

Stocks/gold/inflation/ deflaton/ hyper inflation/sun flares/covert ops/rice/beans/ fruitcakes! I think I'll go sit on the dock and talk to the dog a while.

Mac,

That phrase finder is nifty, thanks for helping me out.

Lon,

Don't worry, when I get back to distributing my worldly possessions {gotta hurry, November's around the corner} the fortune I have tied up in sunscreen will be yours.

Wall Street will soon be submerged below your worst expectations.

If you want to play Russian Roulette with the market, then go ahead, but I don't advise such gambling.

Get out now before your losses mount.

The Japanese are not stupid. They will bail out very soon, and this will prick the US stock market bubble.

Be prepared for a MAJOR DOWNFALL.

There's also going to be a MAJOR EARTHQUAKE in California NEXT WEEK. Get out while you can.
