What have you lost that you wish you still had? A lost engagement ring? A love you'll never forget? A copy of Spider-Man #1? What that you once possessed or at least shared---would you give almost anything to have again?--Al

I've lost a LOT of stull in my life, most I didn't realized I had lost until it turned up some time later. Those things I did lose are usually pretty severe. Like Michael Gardner. He was one of the most talented artists I've ever known, his paintings were abstract, yet he used the most brilliant colors. I can't even begin to explain my favorite piece, anyway, he was a great friend. On Labor Day 1998, he and I were at our annual Labor Day party together, and afterwards he and a couple of my bouncer friends went to a club in "The Old City" of Knoxville. He never came back. A fight broke out when a few "gangsta" type young punks were hitting on a girl who didn't appreciate it. Mike and the guys intervened, and the punks were kicked out of the club. They said they'd wait outside for Mike and the guys. They did. As Mike and the rest got in their truck to leave, one of the little bastards unloaded a clip's worth of 9mm bullets into Mike's Pathfinder, killing Michael, and hitting the other passengers, but not severly injuring them. He was caught some time later, I never heard what happened to him. The loss of Michael wasn't only mine, but a loss I share with everyone that knew him.

I'd have to say the photo albums and love letters that went in the fire in San Francisco. I wrote about them in yesterday's entry, but it still hasn't been uploaded (hopefully I can upload it tonight). My late husband, who died 15 years ago, was wonderful about writing little love notes, and they were all tied up together with ribbon. They were pretty much all I had left of him. I'd wanted to make a "Dia de los Muertes" altar for him this year, but I don't have much to put in it. A couple of photographs is all I have. I'm trying to think of creative ways to show who he was for the altar, though -- maybe a Harley shirt, a picture of a roadrunner, something from the desert. And that love we had, too, before it went bad. I miss that a lot. Oh, and something more tangible: I had EVERY album (vinyl) ever made by the Beach Boys! I would love to still have those!

There are a few things I wish I still had.

One was a copy of Green Lantern #1 that I bought in Mint Condition at a Garage sail for 1 dollar.

But the thing most actually is probably my virginity, I wish I saved that for marriage at least.

the awe and wonder and appreciation that a young innocent boy has. once it is gone - - it can't truly be recaptured. but it is still worth trying.

I wish that I had the innocence that I used to have before having a three year relationship with an alcoholic/addict. Before I had this relationship I always assumed that people were telling the truth. I miss that kind of trust. It's probobly for the best however, being too trusting doesn't serve you well in the real world.
