Y2K show?

A Y2k test at Drew's work -- the lights flicker and go out & when they come back on a computer malfunction sends copies of Drew's diary over the network to everyone. The companies IT director is a raving doomer.

Drew reads a doomer book on Y2k. He & his friends prepare for Y2k, withdrawing all their cash and carrying it around in garbage bags. They built a shelter and conducted a Y2k drill (Cleveland is nuked by another non-Y2k compliant country).

So preparing for Y2k is funny, not nuts.

The plan to make it into a joke, worked, didn't it.

This is NOT OT. I thought the show was great. They talked about everything from lost money to power failures to nuclear armageddon. Don't be upset that they had fun with it, it's a sit-com. During the show I kept waiting for the other(polly) shoe to drop---It never did. Drew's a doomer. Probably the only way he could even have a show with this subject was to poke SOME fun, but they NEVER came out and said anything to the effect of" it ain't gonna happen", all the charecters on the show became instant GI's once Drew read the book to them.

Also I loved the ending. In case you hadn't noticed, it was a dig on an old Twilight Zone with Meridith Baxter, where he loves books- survives a nuclear war and sits down to read and then...Ooop's, breaks his glasses. Classic!

Uhh... that was Bergess Meredith. Played the coach in "Rocky" & the devil in various other places.

Or was it someone else?

OOOp's...You're right, I guess I had Family Ties on the brain. Got my B's and M's mixed up.

Wow, Meredith Baxter as Stallone's trainer in "Rocky". The mind boggles...
