When Martial Law Comes Your Way, Will You Leave Home Peacefully?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

My sister was in her 2nd floor apartment when Hurricane Floyd's rains flooded her town (Bound Brook, NJ)last week. She decided to NOT be rescued (They would not take her cat!)and hunkered down to wait until the waters receded. BUT, Martial Law was declared and the cops and National Guard forced her to leave. Today she can return to get things but she cannot live there until they give the OK.

What will all of YOU do when and if Martial Law forces you to leave your homes? Leave quietly or otherwise??? Just wondering....

An excellent question that deserves a lot of thought now instead of waiting until it is a reality, if things go that far. Dh and I were "discussing" this exact issue last night. We're both GI and agree to the same amount of preps needed, this however is a very divisive topic....I'm rebel to the bone and do not take kindly to "authority" types.

-- Tiara (sorceress5@hotmail.com), September 22, 1999.

This is indeed an excellent question to which I have given a lot of thought. I also live in an upstairs apartment (above a large house) and my current plan is to blacken the windows with large pieces of cardboard and tip-toe around like Anne Frank and her family. I am just not going to answer the door and hope they just move on to the next house. I am also going to be dropping hints to my neighbors that I am going away for the holiday so they might tell (whoever) that I am not home.

Even thinking about it seems so bizarre, but having a plan somehow seems like the right thing to do. But I'll tell you one thing: I am not going anywhere.

I have to say that even the idea of Martial law, forced labor, relocation, etc. upsets me more than Anything else. I am willing to survive power and water outages, food shortages...anything but losing my freedom.

-- Tiara (sorceress5@hotmail.com), September 22, 1999.

In your sister's situation, it was an unsafe environment. What would be the purpose of the NG rounding people up and taking them somewhere if there's no physical harm or natural disaster? I can see people who DO NOT have food or water gladly leaving their homes just so they don't starve. But at this point in time (100 days) left, there's no where to house or take care of millions of starving and thirsty people. I'm more concerned about the gangs coming up my way, but I am prepared to deal with them. It doesn't matter how rural you think you are, someone will be out looking for a place to hide and something to eat. Best to hunker down, lay low, and keep your plans to yourself.

-- bardou (bardou@baloney.com), September 22, 1999.

Unless there was inclement weather, what would be their rationale for asking someone to leave? I am trying to anticipate what the "reasoning" might be. They don't ask people to leave when people are rioting ... only where there is a fire, flood or imminent threat to life or limb. I have a friend in NJ who can't use her water but no one has told her to evacuate. Her house is not flooded. I don't anticipate severe weather in my part of the US and I have septic, not sewers. Why should I be expected to go anywhere?

What is the definition of "forced her"?

-- a.hambley (a.hambley@usa.net), September 22, 1999.

Declaring Martial Law in regional disasters makes sence, you sends in the troops to save lives and restore. To declare Martial Law Nationally for what is to happen over Y2K does,nt make sence. The best place for every-one during the event is laying low in there own place, even if your cold, wet and hungry. The north counrty were it gets cold in Jan. would need 1,000s of times the available space for warming centers. So even regionaly, if field commanders declared on there own accord they would still march only to tell you get back in your home. Its not a flood, its Y2K.

-- Les (yoyo@tolate.com), September 22, 1999.

This has been a major concern of mine too, one which I've tried not to think about but have to be prepared in my mind how to deal with it. I refuse to be moved or sheltered for the same reason as Who Me's sister - my cats. Come Hell or high water, I am not leaving them, period.

I have also considered the "Anne Frank" solution, and intend to use it. What a sad simile, but I will be blackout curtaining and tiptoeing too. The problem for those of us in houses is our cars. Mine will be right here, in the back yard behind a padlocked gate; I can only hope whatever "authorities" come to "help" me leave my home assume there was a family here that had more than one vehicle, as so many do.

I have bucked "authority" figures all my life; I'm a mean old woman now and good at it. One thing that cheers me a little is knowing that we outnumber the Martial types by rather a lot, and I'd venture to guess that most people, GI or not (a moot point by that time), especially if they have pets, will not take kindly to being ordered from their homes - in the presumed absence of rising flood waters or a chemical/hazardous materials emergency - and refuse to go. They can't arrest everybody. Hope this isn't over-simplifying, as I tend to do.

I'd be interested in seeing other thoughts on this subject, too, and other ideas for "disappearing in plain sight".

I respect the fact that we all think everybody is going to be nice. What if they aren't .What if they start shooting. I still believe there are hidden agendas .

If you are a GI good, What are the majority of your neighbor going to do,(no food, no water, no heat no power, NO Choice).

If martial law is declared, we will hear about long before they get to our homes. First of all, they have targeted only certain areas for relocation. If and when martial law is declared, turn to a SW station that tells the truth or make sure you know a hammie who can get the truth.

If for some reason I hear they are coming down my street, I'm ready. I spent bucks buying stuff from Wiggy's to stay warm at night in January. I think a prepared y2ker will have a fallback plan to a safe bugout location.

By December we will have our Wiggy sleeping bags, fishnet undees, hunting coats and Herman survival boots designed by Wiggy's ready to go. We are prepared to go to the woods, (pine needles are an excellent source of vitamin C btw). Go to Susan Conniry's survival site for ideas.

If you can't get to the woods, keep an eye on an abandoned house that they will clearly identify as abandoned and pass by.

If you get caught at home you will have no choice but to go. If you resist you will either die or be handcuffed and will never have another chance to get away. If I get caught at home, I will not shoot anyone or resist. I will ask to get dressed, and then put on my warm stuff, go peacefully, making them think I'm no problem and then at the first chance I would make my break. BUT this is hypothetical. I don't plan getting caught at home. I have a great hammie friend, a SW and great marshland right beside me. I also have my Savior. Isa. 30:21. God bless and remember 'No Fear' just courage! Isa 8:11ff

Just thinking about this thread again and you know what? I wouldn't have left the cat either! Or the dog for that matter! They are FAMILY, and a family that lives together stays together!

-- Animal Lover (animallover@animalloverrr.com), September 22, 1999.

Martial Law???? Get real!!

This is bigger then any government can possibly control with a few troops. You had to see the Cnn Special today. Are Government is a bunch of weak wimpy powerless losers with no backbone. They are terrified about this. The type of terror where they know all the rules are off with this one. dont mean to refute your cute little organized sanitary discussion of martial law, but uh uh no way.

From: Y2K, ` la Carte by Dancr near Monterey, California

By that time, if it happens, I hope to have installed a solar pannel in a fairly unnoticable part of my room (something like an interior court). I will claim that we need to stay home to be near our refrigerated medications, and that we have the system in place to keep them that way. I'll also complain that we are in no condition to walk long distances, because of our health, and will have something on hand from our doctors to substantiate that. I'll show written permission to draw water from our neighbor's pond. As for food, we'll show 72-hours, or whatever amount seems smarter to show. We'll lament that we may have to go without food for a few weeks if things don't calm down, while saying that we've resigned ourselves to this.

-- Dancr (addy.available@my.webpage), September 22, 1999.

But... what if the knock on your door is not to take you to shelters, but to "redistribute" supplies?

From each according to his ability

To each according to his need

[See executive orders search for "food" or "property" for starters.

Look here guys,

I don't want to upset anyone, BUT.....if they come after you in your home, you are toast. I know, we are all prepaired to fight off or take care of roving looters if need be, but you can not live through a fight with a well armed unit of the military. I don't mean you should not try, that's up to you. But if you do, you will be killed. I,m not telling you to just roll over, heck I'm not even sure what I will do. Just know that if you try to fight the military, you will lose, no matter how many you "take with you". If you have life you have hope, no matter how many years it takes, just look at all the political prisoners freed from prison.....their day came. So, to fight or not, you must make up your on mind. Just don't try to live with a stupid notion like fighting the military and winning.

Hey D.B. What are you doing tomorrow night?

======================================================================

One of the longest-running television programs in the history of PBS, "Tony Brown's Journal," is set to reveal explosive allegations as early as this Friday. In the thirty-minute segment, already filmed, the former FBI Special Agent reveals one blockbuster allegation after another, describing, for example, how the contingency plan to relocate mass numbers of people is hardly anything new to the intelligence community. He says, "They prepare to go in and control the public in mass numbers, to move them to certain locations. They have that plan in effect, they've been training for years to do that."

About Y2K, the Special Agent says, "Y2K presents a problem because... if you lose electricity, now you're talking about making movements under the cover of darkness. ...And they realize... they have an acceptable loss rate. In these movements during night, there may be some innocent people who are harmed and shot, but that's acceptable."

Also set to be revealed in the interview: the FBI's "Mad Max" scenario that allegedly characterizes blacks as "emotional people and not an intellectual people" who are likely to loot and riot. The Special Agent adds, "Mad Max would consits of them going in and restoring order by using military force, by use of the National Guard, and by using HRT [Hostage Recovery Team] intelligence..."

But none of the allegations to be revealed in the show are a surprise to the FBI, says the former agent. "This is not even a surprise if you understand the intelligence community," he says, explaining that it is, in fact, the responsibility of the FBI and the intelligence community to anticipate and plan for these kinds of events.

In an interview with Y2K Newswire, the former Special Agent revealed that if questioned, FBI officials would certainly not deny the existence of such a plan. They would call it a "worst case contingency" and explain that their security roles require them to plan for such emergencies.

Plans for mass relocations of the population, "acceptable casualties" and removal of so-called "dissidents" after a declaration of Martial Law are only a surprise to the American public, not the intelligence community.

The full story is unveiled on your local PBS station beginning this Friday. Shows may air any day from Friday, September 23 through Thursday, September 30th. Check your local listings for exact air times.

Video tapes of the show can also be purchased for $29.95 by calling 1-800-524-3552 and asking for the show titled, "Race and Y2K." Y2K Newswire makes nothing from your purchase.

Tony Brown is the author of "Empower the People" and "Black Lies, White Lies." Brown works to bring together blacks and whites through mutual understanding of how the global power structures really operate. Brown also regularly holds Y2K rallies to increase awareness and preparedness among Americans. Link: Link

No fear:

If you were just referring to fighting it out Rambo style with a military unit, you may be right in that they have us way out gunned. If you do it smart, you may prevail. This means bug out when you see that convoy headed down your road (or earlier). Or if you get real lucky, pop one or two, and use smoke grenades to cover your retreat. Shoot and scoot, not Rambo.

As poorly trained as our Army and NG troops are nowadays, I suspect that they will lose ALOT of troops trying to do their mission. Sensitivity training gets nearly as much time in Boot as does PT or marksmanship training. PT has been severly watered down, as has been marksmanship. I consider regular Army troops to be of green troop quality at best. They need a great deal of intensive training to be worth a crap. If you don't believe that, go to Hackworth's weekly newsletters and read them for yourself.

Special Forces types, etc, get better training, but we probably won't see them everywhere.

If it came to the point where house to house searches/seizures become common, all bets are off. Go guerilla, and hurt the SOBs. Go for the infrastructure that supports the military, and go for the political types. All hypothetical of course. :)

Another thing to consider: With the technology and techniques available to the Feds nowadays, if they take you to a camp, or a medical facility, you WILL tell all, and they'll likely reprogram you, or simply kill you. I know that I would not trust anyone again who had been taken prisoner by the govt goons. Too risky - they could be a walking timebome (figureatively). You DON'T want to be taken prisoner, guy.

Everyone has to die sometime. Why not die taking your enemies with you, instead of in a slave camp?

-- Bill (billclo@msgbox.com), September 23, 1999.

The heavily armed military types are not invincible. Do as G. Gordon Liddy suggested and shoot at the head. Even if you get killed, take one or two of them out. After a little while, there won't be any of them left alive or willing to fight your neighbors.
