What the Government REALLY means when the say, "Don't PANIC!!"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

PLEASE, do not PANIC!!:

Don't...

P: PREPARE. It's just not necessary. It's a 3 day storm. Besides, our JIT system can't handle it.

A: ASK us any questions. We just don't know anyway. Y2K is inherently "unknowable". So don't bother.

N: NEEDLESSLY frighten your friends and family with your Y2K "doomer talk". We've done our best to ensure you will be viewed as a nutcase.

I: IGNORE the mass media. They have a direct line to the White House and the experts. They know what they're talking about. That's the beauty of a free press.

C: CASH out your bank account. You might get mugged...or become a victim or fraud...or miss out on 1% interest, which probably doesn't cover your banking fees anyway.

Just wanted to clear that up.

That's not funny.

What admonitions not to panic really indicate.

"Criminal Gross Negligence: Negligence that is accompanied by acts of commission, or omission of a wanton or willful nature, showing a reckless or indifferent disregard of the rights of others, under circumstances reasonably calculated to produce injury, or which make it probable that injury will be occassioned, and the offender knows or is charged with knowledge of the probable results of his acts."

AND

"All national and local legislative bodies exist for their own sake and today are not representatives of the population at large as they pretend. Conflict of interest and corporate interests are intimately tied in with those who make the laws. Thus, most laws created are created not for the benefit of the population, but for corporate interests. When the United States first came into existence, there were only about four laws under common law, and everything functioned very well and people were honest. Now, the United States is also a Corporation, and there are hundreds of thousands of laws. Laws are not solutions to problems. Self-responsibility, which modern laws make no provision for, is the solution. Truely representative legislatures are staffed by common citizens having no vested interests. Today, legislators are paid by those they are to regulate, which is unethical and a conflict of interest, yet tolerated in a degenerate society." (quoted from www.trufax.org)

Excellent, Roland!

Sharon, Jay...

Thanks. I honestly feel that each bullet accurately portray the Government's stance on what the public is being subliminaly told. I had hoped for a wider response, but with the Y2r report release and all... :-)
